The Role:
We're looking for a Director of Retail Operations to help lead and scale our growing network of stores. This role will work closely with our VP of Retail, helping to oversee day-to-day retail operations while also rolling up your sleeves (literally) to get the job done - whether that's managing store setups, building fixtures, working a register, or staying late at a weekend event. All this while keeping the customer experience front and center. Lead by example of not just service but an overall experience for each and every one of our guests.
Based on-site in Pittsburgh, PA, this is a full-time role requiring 45+ hours per week, with frequent travel, evenings, weekends, and holiday work as part of the rhythm.

Responsibilities:
- Support and execute strategic plans across all Grandpa Joe's store locations
- Be an integral part of new store openings: from site setup and stocking to hiring and hands-on launch support
- Take ownership of company events: setup, execution, teardown, and everything in between (expect long days, physical work, and high energy!)
- Lead and support retail teams with consistency, clarity, and contagious energy
- Be available and responsive for anything retail throws our way, including off-hours emergencies (24/7!)
- Travel regularly, sometimes for extended periods, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Help build and refine retail processes that scale, ensuring operational excellence at every level
Job Requirements:
- Proven leadership experience in a high-volume retail environment
- Someone who is equally comfortable leading strategy meetings and assembling shelving
- A strong sense of ownership, grit, and no-task-is-too-small mindset
- Someone who thrives at both the 30,000-ft view and the boots-on-the-ground level
- Experience with retail operations, staffing, scheduling, store layout, inventory, shrink reduction, and merchandising
- Comfort with physical labor, working nights/weekends, and managing on-the-ground events
- Willingness to travel regularly and stay on the road as needed
- A no-task-is-beneath-me mindset and a genuine love for rolling up your sleeves
- A natural leader who brings out the best in teams, stays calm under pressure, and thrives in fast-paced environments
Full-Time position requiring 45+ hours per week including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel. On-site work located in Robinson Township, PA at our National Operations, Support & Distribution Center.
