Maybell Quantum is seeking an experienced Quality and Safety Lead to oversee our quality assurance and safety programs for cryogenic systems development. Our ideal team member is a strategic leader with extensive experience in quality management for complex technical systems who can build and maintain robust quality and safety frameworks in a fast-paced manufacturing-based startup environment. They possess excellent leadership abilities, strong analytical skills, and can effectively manage team members while collaborating across departments.
Responsibilities
Develop and lead the implementation of comprehensive quality management and safety systems for cryogenic hardware manufacturing.
Supervise the Quality Engineering function, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and professional development.
Establish and maintain quality and safety standards, metrics, and key performance indicators across the manufacturing organization.
Partner with executive leadership to develop strategic quality initiatives aligned with company objectives and industry standards.
Oversee failure analysis programs, risk management processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Build relationships with key suppliers and external partners to ensure adherence to quality requirements throughout the supply chain.
Lead compliance efforts with relevant safety regulations and industry standards for cryogenic and quantum systems.
Develop and implement safety protocols specific to working with cryogenic systems and materials.
Represent the quality and safety function in cross-functional project meetings and design reviews.
Create and deliver regular reports on quality metrics, safety performance, and improvement initiatives to executive leadership.
Lead internal quality and safety audits, represent Maybell as the lead on any required external audits and coordinate with OSHA, suppliers, customers and any other third parties as necessary on matters of safety and quality.
Drive accountability both internally and externally on quality and safety.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
10+ years of professional experience in quality engineering and/or safety management.
3+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams.
Deep understanding of quality systems, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance in a technical manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
15+ years industry experience in quality management for complex technical systems.
Certification in quality systems (ASQ, Six Sigma Black Belt) and/or safety management (CSP).
Experience implementing and managing ISO 9001 quality management systems.
Advanced knowledge of statistical process control, design of experiments, and reliability engineering.
Strong background in: Manufacturing system design, operation, and failure modes.
Laboratory and manufacturing safety protocols for high-risk environments.
Quality auditing and supplier quality management.
Risk assessment methodologies and mitigation strategies.
Experience in cryogenic systems or adjacent fields involving specialized scientific instrumentation and their associated quality and safety challenges is a plus.
