Position Summary: MANNA FoodBank seeks an experienced development professional to manage and grow our donor relations program. The Director of Philanthropic Engagement will help advance the mission, programs and services of MANNA FoodBank through development and implementation of effective fundraising and donor relations programs, to ensure both immediate and sustainable funding. The priority of the successful candidate will be to provide ongoing relationship building and appreciation efforts with existing donors including major and planned gift donors and securing new donors.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Overall management of major and planned giving program which is charged with managing relationships with and securing support from donors who are capable of making an annual gift of $1,000 or more. Identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of current and potential donors. Acquisition of major and planned gifts working closely with Chief Development Officer, Implementation of a year-round program of major giving, aimed at high net worth individuals and organizations. Incorporation of planned giving in the year-round major giving program. Planning and implementation of major and planned giving donor appreciation events in concert with other members of the development and operations staff team. Cultivate and provide excellent stewardship for donors on an ongoing basis. Serve as a key contributor in the implementation and accomplishment of our Strategic Plan for Development and an annual $7.5+ million fundraising goal for the department. Implement identified strategies for growth and sustainability of our major and planned giving program. Responsible to provide full intra-departmental communication and reporting within a complex, multi-dimensional department. Ability to provide effective public speaking and hunger education for important groups and partners. Represent MANNA to donors, prospects, regulators and funders in a manner that demonstrates integrity, knowledge of food insecurity issues and MANNA programs, and a passion for the mission. Serve as an important member of our MANNA staff and volunteer team, building positive internal and external relationships. Provide supervision and oversight to the Donor Relations Manager and the Resource Development Associate. Standardize back up protocols and measures when the Donor Relations Manager and or the Resource Development Associate are on PTO or out unexpectedly. Coordinate and participate in cross training efforts, including but not limited to: report creation in Donor Perfect, gift receipt acknowledgement processes, online donation processing and printing of tax receipt letters. Standardize SOPs on all key facets of report generation (revenues/projections, funds raised in real time) gift receipt, data entry, and receipt creation. Review SOPs bi-annually (at minimum). Become fully proficient in the backend and list creation responsibilities associated with our Direct Marketing program. Ensure the Donor Relations Manager and the Resource Development Associate are facilitating the gift receipt and acknowledgement process in the most timely, effective manner. Facilitate and conduct end of year employee evaluation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus minimum of 7 years of major gift and planned giving experience with a proven track record of success in resource development Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills Excellent communications skills both oral and written skills Strong track record in major gift and planned giving strategy, experience and results Previous supervisory experience preferred Detail oriented with ability to organize and prioritize time sensitive projects and confidential information Proven ability to exercise good judgement and decision making Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and Excel Valid driver’s license and availability to travel throughout our 16 county region

A successful candidate must exhibit a high level of professionalism and the ability to work in a dynamic team environment. A comfort level with donor software systems and accurate record keeping
Working Conditions: Work will be performed in a typical office environment with occasional exposure to warehouse environment, which can at times be hot or cold depending on the season.
Physical Demands: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting. This includes: the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; Exerting up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work. Worker sits most of the time.
Functions also require ability to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; close visual acuity to perform activities including but not limited to preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading.
Travel: Minimal, but routine travel may be required within the service area.
