Position OverviewWe are conducting a confidential search for an accomplished Director of Perioperative Services to lead Surgical Services, including the Operating Room (OR), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and related functions. This is a high-acuity surgical program performing orthopedic, neuro, spine, gynecologic, ENT, and plastic surgery, supported by advanced technology including Mako and da Vinci systems. The successful candidate will stabilize a historically variable department, foster strong physician relationships, and standardize processes to ensure both efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a diverse surgical services team in a fast-paced, multi-specialty environment.
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with physicians, addressing concerns proactively.
- Implement and refine block scheduling and improve the pre-admission testing (PAT) process.
- Standardize workflows and address the 'we’ve always done it this way' culture.
- Oversee capital budget planning and prioritize high-need equipment purchases creatively within fiscal constraints.
- Recruit, develop, and retain OR staff while addressing turnover and stabilizing department morale.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention standards.
- Collaborate with other nursing leaders in daily flash huddles and cross-department problem-solving.
- Current WA RN license (or eligibility for reciprocity) required.
- Significant perioperative leadership experience at the manager or director level.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a 'strong-minded' team and demanding physicians.
- Experience in high-acuity surgical environments with advanced technology preferred.
- Financial and budget management skills, particularly in capital planning.
