We are looking for a Director of People and Legal who will lead Human Resource Operations and Legal functions in a growing tech organization.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will engage internal and external stakeholders across a variety of business needs, including commercial negotiations, employee lifecycle, and HR practices, IP and data protection, as well as other strategic initiatives.

What You'll be Doing:

• Designing an excellent employee experience from onboarding to growth, fostering a vibrant, inclusive culture.
• Driving strategic initiatives, optimize processes, and building a world-class team.
• Steering us through legal landscapes, ensuring compliance and protecting our organization.
• Negotiating and reviewing contracts with clients, vendors, and other partners, including SaaS and data contracts, power purchase agreements, and other commercial contracts.
• Building a robust risk management framework, safeguarding our future and turning potential threats into opportunities.
• Staying up to date with changes in relevant laws and regulations and communicate such changes to the appropriate stakeholders.

What We're Looking for:

• 10+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a mix of legal and people / HR Operations experience
• J.D. and admitted to at least one state bar
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise advice to stakeholders
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
• Excellent communication skills, including experience negotiating commercial contracts

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a fast-paced, start-up environment
• Experience working in a regulated industry or with regulated clients
• Experience negotiating SaaS contracts or renewable energy project transactions
• Combined law firm and in-house experience
• Contract Lifecycle Management system experience
• Passion for transitioning to a zero-carbon future

We work on a hybrid model. We are in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at our downtown Boston building, and remote work is optional on Wednesdays and Fridays.
