We are building the operational foundation that will support that growth and were looking for a senior leader who can own that responsibility with excellence.

Position Summary
Yellow Tree is hiring a Director of Operations to oversee the full operational performance of our multifamily property management portfolio. Reporting directly to the President, this role will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations across the company, refining systems and processes, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring scalable infrastructure for future growth.


This is not a mid-level property operations role it is a senior leadership position tasked with aligning the internal engine of the business to support an ambitious and intentional growth plan. As the organizations top operational executive, the Director of Operations will serve as the integrator of people, process, and performance ensuring Yellow Tree is built to scale.


This role is ideal for a proven operations leader who is energized by team development, organizational clarity, and operational excellence someone who leads with both strategy and discipline, with a clear understanding of how the right systems can unlock accelerated growth.


Core Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all aspects of property operations, ensuring that every asset meets or exceeds performance expectations
  • Develop, implement, and refine operational systems, policies, and procedures that support both current needs and future scale
  • Lead annual planning processes, including budgeting, capital planning, staffing strategy, and portfolio reporting
  • Align day-to-day execution across all departments with strategic company goals and core values
  • Serve as the central leader for operational decision-making, accountability, and execution


Team Development & Leadership Structure

  • Directly manage Regional Portfolio Directors and department leaders (Maintenance, Marketing, Leasing, etc.)
  • Design and implement a scalable leadership structure that supports future asset growth
  • Build and mentor a high-performance operations team through clear expectations, performance coaching, and professional development
  • Foster a culture of clarity, alignment, and shared ownership across all operational teams
  • Cultivate and model a leadership style rooted in consistency, accountability, and trust-building


Strategic Process & Systems Development

  • Audit and streamline current processes to reduce friction, improve efficiency, and enhance visibility
  • Evaluate and deploy software tools and technologies that drive performance, communication, and scalability
  • Create SOPs and internal playbooks that guide consistency in operations company-wide
  • Align operational systems with future growth targets, ensuring infrastructure can absorb new assets and management contracts


Business Alignment & Executive Partnership

  • Serve as a key thought partner to the President and contribute to company-wide strategic planning
  • Act as a conduit between corporate vision and field-level execution
  • Report regularly to the President on performance metrics, internal initiatives, and any operational issues that require executive input
  • Represent Operations in senior leadership and investor discussions, bringing both strategic perspective and operational clarity


What Success Looks Like

  • The company operates with consistent systems, clear communication, and high accountability across all sites
  • Property performance is strong, stable, and clearly tracked against KPIs
  • Teams are aligned and supported, with a strong internal leadership bench
  • Growth (new developments and 3rd party contracts) is absorbed seamlessly with minimal disruption
  • The President can confidently focus on external business development knowing internal operations are fully aligned and led


You Are

  • A strategic leader with 10+ years of multifamily operations experience and 5+ years in a senior-level role (VP, Director, or similar)
  • A systems-thinker with a builders mindset capable of creating structure without overcomplication
  • A leader who inspires trust, communicates clearly, and holds teams accountable to high standards
  • Experienced in budgeting, performance management, lease-up execution, and capital planning
  • Skilled at balancing field operations with executive-level reporting and alignment
  • Proficient with property management systems (Entrata preferred), CRM tools, and business intelligence platforms
  • Growth-oriented, but grounded in process and execution
  • Committed to team development, leadership clarity, and long-term organizational health
