As the Director of Operations, you will provide executive leadership and strategic direction to ensure the efficiency, growth, and profitability of the entire business, which includes Service, Retrofit, Automation and Sales functions.
Responsibilities: Serve as the primary conduit of communication and liaison between the management team and key personnel, making strategic operational decisions and setting overarching goals. Collaborate with Department Managers to develop a one- and three-year business plan for the branch, encompassing departmental plans that detail current status and future growth strategies. Organize, observe, and oversee the implementation of daily operations across the entire business, ensuring smooth progress. Focus on working on the business, not in the business, avoiding getting involved in day-to-day minutiae. Manage relationships, agreements, and procurement processes with external partners and vendors, coordinating the allocation of materials and resources. Evaluate business processes, procedures, and overall efficiency against organizational objectives. Gather, analyze, and interpret data and metrics (utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and CRM) to assess overall performance. Develop and deliver improvement recommendations to the Management Team. Upon agreement, take the lead in driving approved changes and modifications across all departments. Build the branch's QA/QC program, including establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each department, and manage the overall quality process. Drive key initiatives focused on increasing growth, profitability, and customer retention. Ensure the business is productive and well-coordinated by managing procedures and assisting Department Managers with coaching and developing personnel. Oversee recruiting and talent acquisition for all areas of the business, proactively collaborating with Department Managers to identify future hiring needs. Ensure associate growth and development through mentoring and training programs. Observe staff across all departments and provide constructive feedback to Department Managers. Cultivate and enforce a positive, professional culture of teamwork centered on the Customer Experience.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required (Master's/MBA preferred). 15+ years in commercial HVAC service or related field. 8+ years of P&L oversight and deep financial acumen, including sales proposal cost modeling. Strong understanding of Service, Sales, and Retrofit business lines. Proven experience in supervising, coaching, and developing teams. Exceptional attention to detail and adaptability across all business functions.
