POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Operations will lead the Meriden, CT operations team that includes coaxial and hybrid (power and fiber) cables manufacturing, assembly operations, planning, and maintenance. The person is directly responsible for executing all manufacturing processes with emphasis on enhancing operational excellence while reducing costs, implementing new processes, and driving initiatives to meet or exceed company defined KPIs. The production, quality, EH&S, maintenance, and facilities functions will report to the Director of Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop strong and effective departments by providing positive and objective coaching/mentorship of team managers and leaders
Implement an optimal organizational structure and cadence to grow the Meriden, CT facility
Focus on results: drive the teams to achieve yield, quality and financial metrics including revenue and profitability targets
Participate in establishing Operations goals and objectives. Monitor progress
Strive for superior internal customer service (on-time production and responsiveness)
Promote a culture of continuous improvement through rigorous root cause analysis, improvement initiatives and the application of Lean tools and techniques
Plan and recommend necessary resources to ensure success, including suggestions of capital equipment, development of team members, facility upgrades and effective infrastructure
Promote environmental, health and safety philosophies and processes that reduce workplace injuries
Emphasize and reinforce Amphenol Core Values, EHS/Quality policies and Safety procedures
Assist in creating business processes to ensure profitability
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree: Engineering or Business strongly preferred.
Minimum 7 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for growing a customer-focused Business. P&L responsibility.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high growth industry; must be willing to lead from the front and be hands-on and take initiatives
Demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, teach, train and motivate others
Strong knowledge of MRO supply chain, purchasing, and logistics as applied to manufacturing
Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Control, including ISO certification and auditing
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing Processes
Excellent computer skills, proficient in MS Office Suite
Knowledge of SAP is a plus
Solid communication skills
Ability to recognize improvement opportunities, communicate to internal stakeholders and Executive Leadership Team
Strong orientation toward customer focus and teamwork
