How You Will Contribute:
The Director of Nutrition Services directs and oversees all aspects of the nutrition program for a highly specialized eating disorder treatment facility. This position provides leads a team of Registered Dietitians and the Chef, ensuring robust nutritional programming compliments therapeutic programming for clients seeking to achieve freedom from eating disorders.
Relationships and Contacts:
Within the organization: Maintains frequent and close working relationships with Executive Director, Clinical Director, Business Development team members, Admissions team members, Nursing leadership, milieu leadership, clinical team members, and peers.
Outside the organization: Initiates and maintains professional working relationships with clients and their families, referral partners, clinical partners, and vendors.
Essential Responsibilities Provides consultation for the admissions process by reviewing documentation and making recommendations based on nutritional status.
Conducts initial nutritional assessments with each new client, including diet history, dietary preferences, weights, nutritional risk and eating disorder behaviors.
Sets weekly schedules for the clients as it relates to nutritional needs and provides supervision on individual treatment plans.
Creates meal plans based on the client's nutrition needs and clinical goals to include supplementation, protocols and accommodating special dietary needs.
Consults with the medical team as needed to ensure that the nutritional needs of individual clients are being met.
Educates and counsels clients to increase awareness of the importance of nutritionally balanced diets in achieving good health and recovery.
Ensures each client has an individualized meal plan, nutritional care plan and set weight goals.
Ensures nutrition care plans are adjusted as needed throughout the treatment episode.
Ensures clients and families are provided with on-going nutritional consultations based on individual dietary needs.
Evaluates and monitors clients' compliance with their meal planning by collecting, analyzing and summarizing treatment, results, data and trends.
Maintains contact with clients' outpatient dietitian to provide updates on progress and recommendations for discharge.
Conducts nutrition group, cooking group, and physical activity groups, as well as individual weekly or twice weekly sessions with the clients.
Responsible for proper documentation and charting and ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
Approves menus and snacks for the clients and ensures that the quality and quantity of food is adequate and works closely with the Chef and dietary care specialist team in meal planning for clients including food preferences and allergens.
Ensures clients are connected to aftercare nutrition services as part of the discharge planning process.
Leadership Responsibilities: Collaborates with Mileu Supervisor to ensure RCS staff are educated on meal coaching, supplement protocol, and guidelines.
Supports primary staff by completing biweekly check-ins with each individual direct report and monthly RD meetings.
Presents nutritional assessment/compliance data for quarterly PI meeting.
Attends monthly leadership meeting.
Monitors and evaluate the monthly food budget.
Conducts Nutrition Education during orientation for all new employees.
Trains new onboarding dietitians and supervise dietetic interns.
Completes competencies, annual reviews, and PAF forms for all direct reports.
Approves timecards and time off requests for all direct reports.
Completes Quarterly Performance Improvement Tasks.
Updates food policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities Functions within the guidelines of the facility's Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.
Assists in promoting and ensuring that the mission, goals and objectives are understood and actively supported by the employees.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to the Mission and population.
Leads the development and implementation of nutritional policies and procedures and assist in the education of both clients and staff. Provides a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Adheres to facility policies, procedures, rules and regulations, implementing regularly.
Maintains positive attitude and acts as a team player.
Accomplishes organization mission by completing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What We Are Seeking:
Education and Experience
Position requires bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major in nutrition/dietetics or a related field; Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Must hold Registered Dietitian Licensure in Tennessee. Position requires a minimum of 1 year experience in a behavioral healthcare setting, preferably with clients with eating disorders.
Other Requirements Position requires incumbent to have a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance and acceptable driving record.
Clearance of criminal background, TB test, Health Physical, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Current CPI certification.
