Work Shifts 9:00 A.M – 5:00 P.M Duties & Responsibilities Purpose Of Position Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer or appropriate designee the Director of Nursing for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership to the APRN workforce across the hospital. This leader is responsible for fostering a culture of clinical excellence, interprofessional collaboration, regulatory compliance, and role optimization to ensure high-quality, evidence-based, and equitable care. The Director collaborates with medical staff, nursing leadership, and operational leaders to advance APRN practice, promote role clarity, and support professional development and credentialing. *Position required to maintain clinical competencies and must maintain 0.4 clinical activity as a direct care provider. Responsibilities Oversees APRN participation in quality improvement and performance monitoring activities. Ensures APRNs adhere to clinical best practices, evidence-based guidelines, and institutional protocols. Implements systems for Focused and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE/OPPE) of APRNs in partnership with the Medical Staff Office. Coordinates credentialing for APRNs in collaboration with the Medical Staff Office. Partners with Quality and Risk departments to investigate clinical concerns and promote accountability. Monitors clinical outcomes and leverages data analytics to inform practice standards and drive improvement. Partners with Chair of service to ensure high quality APRN practice. Completes annual evaluation of all APRNs in collaboration with Division Chairs. Partners with Nursing and Professional Development to manage educational needs of APRNs including initial onboarding and competencies and annual competencies, education and ongoing. Monitors and reports on key performance metrics. Manages and participates in executing collaborative agreements with appropriate MDs/DOs in APRNs specialty area (if applicable). Care Experience: Champions patient and family centered care in APRN practice. Develops and disseminates care models that enhance communication, compassion and continuity of care. Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure seamless transitions of care and holistic care planning. Leads initiatives to improve APRN sensitive patient satisfaction and experience metrics. Supports the professional development of APRNs in delivery culturally competent and equitable care. Financial Sustainability: Collaborates with Finance to evaluate APRN productivity, cost-effectiveness, and return on investment. Identifies opportunities for APRN-led service expansion, including revenue-generating or cost-saving models. Oversees APRN workforce planning, ensuring efficient staffing, appropriate deployment, and optimal scheduling. Participates in budget development and ensures fiscal stewardship of resources under APRN oversight. Monitors APRNs scheduling including vacation approvals, panel coverage and completion of timecards. Ensures APRNs sign/complete their charts and completing billing as required. Management of labor relations Minimum Qualifications 1. Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State; and, 2. A Masters Degree in Nursing Administration or an equivalent field, and a minimum of four years of high-level responsible experience in nursing administration, three years of which shall have been in a hospital; or, 3. A satisfactory equivalent.  However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
