The Director of Nursing is responsible for nursing services and associated patient care outcomes provided under their supervision. Provides leadership which supports an environment of collaboration and coordination of services among care teams and based on their unique scope of practice (i.e. licenses, unlicensed, etc.) Responsible for design, administration, and evaluation of professional nursing services in accordance with relevant state nurse practices act(s), nursing scope of practice, and policy and procedures. Establishes standardization and direction through implementation of policies and procedures and standards of care for the delivery of safe patient care in the facility. Key Responsibilities Responsible for all nursing services and associated patient care outcomes provided under their direction Active member of the facility core leadership team Commitment to data-driven clinical excellence, to drive and sustain a culture of harm prevention Advance patient safety and quality that removes barriers and supports integrated and coordinated proactive patient safety activities Create an environment that empowers teammates to report unsafe conditions and practices to mitigate risk Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act (if applicable), state board of nursing or professional registration requirements, state laws, and job descriptions Act as a clinical resource for perioperative personnel using current literature and guidelines, organizational policies and procedures, and regulatory and accreditation standards Assist perioperative personnel in the evaluation of current practice through quality and performance improvement activities Effectively build and manage a team of high-performing clinicians to deliver excellent patient care Drive standardization and implement best practices to achieve high reliability. Promote a collaborative environment to ensure teammates recognize how processes and systems affect the facility and the patients Accountability and follow-through on commitment and performance goals for self and teammates Demonstrate and promote a relationship of collaboration with physicians and other key stakeholders Coordinate, facilitate, and manage change within the center Collect and analyze data applicable to perioperative services to facilitate Collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders Collect and analyze data applicable to perioperative services to facilitate collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders Empower teammates to anticipate and exceed patient and physician expectations Lead interviews for perioperative personnel selection Lead interviews for perioperative personnel selection Evaluate clinical personnel for performance Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to surgical team. Continuously improve quality through education, research, effective leadership, and responsible stewardship of resource Ensure that processes for identifying and managing serious and sentinel patient safety events are defined, implemented, and reported Maintain required competencies Pursue professional growth Act as patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information Maintain facility operations in accordance with all policies and procedures, regulatory and accreditation standards and professional guidelines Manage clinical labor operations and staffing according to best practice and operational stewardship Demonstrate fiscal responsibility Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing Bachelor’s degree in nursing and/or healthcare administration preferred. Minimum 3-5 years ASC management experience and/or hospital perioperative management required Current state RN licensure to practice in good standing. Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 6 months of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification. Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course as required by supervisor when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 6 months of employment or documentation of current PALS certification. Specialty certification in Ambulatory Surgical Care is preferred.
