Collaborative Environment: Work closely with the CNO and a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.Position Summary:Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing to lead the Post Care Cardiac and Acute Stroke services at our esteemed partner medical facility in Harlingen, TX. This pivotal leadership role reports to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)/COO and is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice across these specialized multi-unit levels. The Director will be a key driver in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, fostering the clinical competency of staff, and managing resources effectively. This position is crucial for advancing patient care in post-acute cardiac and stroke recovery.Key Responsibilities: Strategic & Operational Leadership: Provide leadership and support to the CNO, assisting in the overall management of nursing and designated patient care functions within the Post Care Cardiac and Acute Stroke units. Assume 24/7 accountability for the clinical and operational activities of assigned areas. Develop and implement strategic plans, goals, and objectives for the units, aligned with organizational standards and patient care needs. Clinical Excellence & Quality Management: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care tailored to post-cardiac and post-stroke patient populations. Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care. Oversee and participate in quality improvement initiatives, monitoring key performance indicators and patient outcomes. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards. Staff Development & Management: Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing managers and clinical staff within the assigned units. Oversee staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations. Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, professional growth, and staff engagement. Ensure clinical competency of staff through ongoing education, training, and performance evaluation. Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with physicians (cardiologists, neurologists, etc.), therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Represent nursing leadership in interdisciplinary care conferences and relevant hospital committees. Foster open communication with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team. Qualifications: Education: Required: Associate degree from an accredited nursing school WITH a Bachelor's degree in a health care related field; OR a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Experience: Required: Minimum of two (2) years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a Nurse Manager, full-time Charge Nurse, or in a comparable nursing leadership position. (Experience in cardiac, stroke, telemetry, or step-down units highly relevant). Licensure/Certifications: Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain prior to start). Required: Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or a Master's degree in a health care related field (e.g., MHA, MBA). National certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., CNML, NE-BC, PCCN, SCRN, CCRN).
