Description TheDirector of Nursing(DON)isresponsible foroverseeing allSentidoHealthNursing departmentemployeesfor Colorado,manageandoverseethe day-to-day operations of the nursingdepartment. TheDON will lead andimplement goalsfor all employeesinthe Nursingdepartment andensurecompliancewith allpatient care procedures, safety protocols, andcompany policies.DON will also serve in the capacity ofstateof Colorado Administrator, Supervising Nurse, Safety Coordinator and Disaster Preparedness for agency nursing license .
Essential Functions Leadallnursingstaffandassistwithanyprovideassistanceasneeded Overseeall operationsoftheNursingDepartment toensurethebesthealthcarefor allSentidoHealth patients Involvedininterviewing,evaluating,andhiringofallpotentialcandidatesthatwouldfallunderthe Nursing Department. Ableto communicate all policiesandprocedures to their department ensuring that thecompany isandremainsin compliancewith all federal,stateand local laws, regulations, and rules. Evaluatesworkperformanceofallnursingdepartmentpersonneltodetermineanywageincreasesand allow for advisement on future work performance. Communicates wellwithupper management, employees, patients,andpatients' familiesin face-to-face aspectsduring home visits, hospital visits, over the phone, andvideo calls. Ensuresallnursesareprovidingexceptionalandcompassionatecaretoallpatientsandpatientsfamilies while staying within allfederal, state, and agencyguidelines. Collaborates withother departments of Sentido Healthto ensurethe nursingdepartmentisalwaysin accordance withcompany guidelines and patient care istoppriority. Establishgoalsfor theemployeesoftheColoradonursingdepartment to constantlyimproveonpatient care. Complies withallOSHA regulations andother local,state,andfederal governmentregulations. Establishesatrainingsystemfor allfuturenursingdepartment employeestoensureall patients and employees are safe. Ensuresagency supervision for all clinical staff to ensure compliance with all local,stateand federal rules, regulations,licensingand contractual requirements of agency licensing.
Required Skills Experiencewithmanagingandleadingadepartmentofnurses. Knowledgeofappropriateandcompassionatepatientcare. LicensedbytheBoard ofNursingasaRegisteredNursewith practice rights for state. Knowledgeofhomehealthcareguidelines/licensing regulations. Knowledgeand management of clinical practicewithpediatricand oradultpatientsandfamilies. Understandingofalllegalcompliances. Competencies Understanding ofdocumentinginKantimeor current EMRandothersystemswhilemanagingthe employees who use it. Effective communicationwithpatients,families,CaseManagers,DON,ADONand Physicians to beableto manageall nursesand or caregiverswhomustcommunicate withtheseparties. Maintainscleanvehicleandupto dateinsuranceandregistration whileensuring allsalaried staff/nurseswho drive for workfollow the same. Maintainspresentableappearance,properlyfollowsPPEGuidelineswhilemanagingthe nursesinthe field to follow these same guidelines. MedicationAdministrationviathefollowingroutes:PO,GB,GJ,Rectal,IM,IV,SQ,Nasal,Optic,Otic,andinhaler whileensuring all nursesor caregivers (asappropriate)in the department are competentwiththese medication administrationroutes. Knowledgeandunderstandingofwoundcaretobeabletomanageandensureclinicalstaff/caregiversare competent in wound care. Competent in GB/GJ Care/Maintenance,Delivery of medications and feeding via GB/GJ,feedingpumpuseto manageandensureallagency clinical staffarecompetentinthisaswell. Competent in Tracheostomy care/maintenance,Suctioning: Oral, Nasal, and Tracheostomy, Ventilator use, HHN administration,Oxygen Administration, Pulse OximeterUsetobeableto manageandensureallnursesarealsocompetentinthisaswell. UrinaryCatheterizationinsertionandremovalwhilemanagingandensuringallnurses are competent in urinary catheterization. Knowledge andunderstanding ofUniversal Precautions,SafetyMeasures,SeizurePrecautions while ensuring allclinicalemployeesare competent as well.
Qualifications Associatesdegreeor Diploma Program in Nursing Required. BSNorMastersPreferred RNlicensebytheBoardofNursing with ability to practice in Colorado HomeHealthStrongly Preferred PediatricsExperienceStrongly Preferred
