The Role The Director of Merchandising is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and execution of merchandising strategies to drive sales, profitability, and market share. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this role oversees product selection, assortment planning, pricing strategies, vendor negotiations, and inventory management — all while aligning merchandising initiatives with our brand vision, customer expectations, and business objectives.
What You’ll Do Strategic Leadership : Develop and execute merchandising plans aligned with company goals. Monitor market trends and collaborate with executive leadership on business targets. Assortment & Product Planning : Lead assortment planning to ensure a compelling and balanced mix. Oversee SKU rationalization to optimize performance. Vendor & Supplier Management : Build strong vendor relationships and negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional programs. Financial Oversight : Manage budgets, sales and inventory plans, and margin targets; analyze trends and implement improvement strategies. Team Development : Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing merchandising team. Set clear goals, coach, and provide regular feedback. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work with marketing and retail operations to ensure seamless strategy execution.
What We’re Looking For Proven leadership experience in merchandising, ideally within retail or home improvement. Strong analytical, strategic planning, and financial management skills. Expertise in vendor negotiations and assortment planning. Excellent communication and team-building skills. Ability to balance day-to-day execution with long-term vision. Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and a strong sense of urgency.
