Medication Management Director (DEA)

The Medication Management Director is an important part of BayMark's compliance program. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, the Medication Management Director for BayMark Health Services, Inc. is responsible for ensuring that the following areas are in place at BayMark's opioid treatment facilities regarding controlled substances:


This position will report to the General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and will require up to 60%-75% travel.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Minimum age requirement of 21.
  2. Minimum Bachelor's degree.
  3. Minimum (five) 5 years' experience as a DEA Investigator with experience working with opioid treatment centers or a healthcare environment that provides nursing services.
  4. Experience in education and training team members.
  5. Experience in policy review and implementation.
  6. Experience in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
  7. Understanding of OTP clinic operations is preferred.
  8. Understanding of DEA, HIPAA, Federal, State and CARF standards and regulations.
  9. Demonstrated organizational skills.
  10. Knowledge and skills with Microsoft products and general computer literacy with strong proficiency with Excel.
  11. Customer service focused.
  12. Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of diplomacy and the ability to work effectively as a member of the compliance department.
  13. Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  14. Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
  15. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting.
  16. Ability to function independently with limited direction.
  17. Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling all obligations, and ability to meet deadlines.
  18. Must be able to multitask and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  19. Ability to travel up to 60%-75%
  20. Initial and on-going MVR verification and must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with BayMark's policy F&A-115.
  21. Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers.
  22. Satisfactory criminal background check.
  23. Satisfactory drug screen.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Reviews and revises as needed all policies and procedures regarding the opioid treatment center dispensaries (medication rooms) and controlled ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  2. Provides training to the compliance team regarding dispensaries and controlled substances.
  3. Provides training to nurse trainers regarding dispensaries and controlled substances.
  4. Provides training to regional staff, nursing staff, treatment center directors and providers regarding dispensaries and controlled substances.
  5. Conducts on-site audits of opioid treatment program dispensaries.
  6. Monitors dispensary activities.
  7. Participates in DEA surveys and communicates with the DEA as requested.
  8. Assists programs with responding to DEA and pharmacy board inquires and audits.
  9. Assists with DEA licensing and pharmacy license as needed.
  10. Reviews the ordering of Medications/Prescriptions.
  11. Reviews bi-annual inventories.
  12. Monitoring need for medication reorders and refills.
  13. Assists in reviewing bi-annual inventories.
  14. Assists in dispensary layout and controls.
  15. Assists in establishing record keeping standards.
  16. Reviews the process for the proper destruction of all medication spills/waste and expirations.
  17. Communicates any controlled substances issues and concerns to the compliance team and operations leadership.
  18. Reviews storage of controlled substances.
  19. Reviews security systems related to controlled substances.
