Base pay range $200,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from EVONA We're looking for a Director (or VP) of Mechanical Engineering to own spacecraft architecture, lead a growing team, and still love spending 3-4 hours a day deep in CAD. This is a Boulder-based team led by some of the most experienced names in space tech, including veterans of Starlink and Kuiper. They're small, sharp, and currently bidding on multi-hundred-million-dollar contracts. They’ll scale, fast. You’ll lead that growth, from hands-on builds to hiring the next 5-10 engineers under you. You’ll be: Designing and owning full spacecraft architectures Reworking designs to fit customer-driven constraints (e.g., 3kWh not 2kWh? Bigger batteries, bigger panels, let’s go) Building and managing CAD, mass budgets, thermal solutions, and AIT plans Leading manufacturing, integration, and vacuum/environmental testing Pitching to clients, defending decisions, and iterating fast when specs change This role is perfect for someone who’s: Led spacecraft builds from scratch Managed teams but still enjoys deep technical work Ready to scale fast (team of 20+ if we land the next contract) Comfortable navigating customers, partners, and serious satellite constraints You’ll need: ️ 10+ years in space hardware ️ 5+ years leading teams ️ Strong CAD and analysis (SolidWorks, ANSYS, etc.) ️ Deep experience with testing, AIT, and vehicle integration ️ A clear track record of hardware that’s actually flown If you're looking to lead, build, and scale in a startup with flight heritage and real traction, this is the one.
