We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering with deep expertise in mechanical systems and Autodesk Revit to lead our engineering department. This is a high-impact, onsite leadership role based in Orange, CA , where you'll oversee mechanical design, manage Revit drafters and designers, and drive innovation across modular building projects.
Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor the engineering team, including Revit drafters, mechanical designers, and external resources Oversee mechanical design processes for modular buildings, ensuring compliance with codes, safety standards, and company specifications Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, project managers, clients, and production teams to align engineering deliverables with project goals Implement Revit across manufacturing workflows, including BOMs, fabrication drawings, and installation documentation Develop and maintain Revit models and families for building systems and components Drive R&D initiatives to enhance modular design efficiency and product innovation Manage mechanical engineering projects from concept to completion, including 3D design of fabricated parts and assemblies Prepare accurate BOMs using Revit, CRM, and Business Central (CSV) for planning and production Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for mechanical components and systems Ensure quality control through rigorous review and approval of engineering outputs Support a made-to-order environment with semi-custom machinery and modular components Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise engineering staff and external design resources Provide coaching, training, and performance management to foster team growth Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, including Revit proficiency Strong background in construction or modular building systems preferred Advanced skills in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Business Central, CRM, and Workfront Proven leadership and organizational capabilities Excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Knowledge of fabricated parts, extrusions, fasteners, light electrical systems, and welding details Experience in custom or semi-custom manufacturing environments Bonus Skills PE license or equivalent professional certification Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles Experience integrating engineering workflows with ERP systems
