Director of Major Gifts - Relationship Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Relationship Manager develops and manages a portfolio of key individual donors through moves management, leading them on a donor journey to maximize their lifetime value to our critical mission. The Relationship Manager is responsible for developing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with a special focus on transformational giving prospects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan & Execute: Thoughtfully create and execute moves management plans to retain and upgrade supporters
  • Cultivate & Solicit: Develop authentic relationships with donors that lead to the solicitation of 5+ figure contributions and planned gifts
  • Steward: Provide meaningful and curated stewardship that inspires and motivates increased giving over time
  • Achieve: Meet or exceed individual targets for portfolio engagement
  • Track & Analyze: Ensure donor portfolio records are current with all necessary and pertinent information, input contacts and interactions into donor database regularly, and utilize donor data in the CRM to assess personal progress and performance
  • Learn: Attend fundraising seminars and trainings that are relevant to the position
  • Collaborate: Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Leadership or requested by fellow members of the Covenant House community
  • Attend: Travel for donor meetings, receptions, major fundraising events, staff retreats and staff meetings

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

You are an excellent fit for this role if you:

  • Have five to ten years of major giving experience (or a transferable set of experiences in sales)
  • Have outstanding communication and persuasion skills and the ability to excite anyone about our mission
  • Are team-oriented with a strong work ethic essential to meet the demands of a community that strives for excellence
  • Have highly developed interpersonal skills with the presence and personal style to represent the organization to diverse constituents
  • Are available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and overnight as needed
  • Are proficient in usage of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the Google Office Suite; experience with donor data software preferred
  • Have a demonstrated passion for our mission that invigorates and excites everyone with whom you share it and a demonstrated commitment to human service and social change
  • Are able to travel regularly throughout the state (a valid US Driver's License preferred) as this role requires travel up to 25% of the time

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Have successfully raised 7- and 8-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals
  • Are experienced in raising money for a human services or social justice organization
  • Have a network of supporters and impeccable reputation in the St. Louis area
