*Job Description*
We are currently seeking an experienced and hands-on *Director of Maintenance* to lead our Maintenance Department in Lake City, Florida. This leadership role is essential to ensuring our facility remains clean, safe, and fully operational for residents, staff, and visitors.
*Key Responsibilities*:
* Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance programs and department activities.
* Establish and maintain written maintenance policies and procedures.
* Guide maintenance staff on proper use of equipment, supplies, and departmental policies.
* Review departmental manuals, policies, and job descriptions annually; recommend updates as needed.
* Communicate policies and procedures clearly to employees, residents, families, and inspectors.
* Coordinate maintenance efforts with other departments (Nursing, Dietary, Activities, etc.).
* Provide regular reports and updates to the Administrator regarding maintenance operations.
* Submit accident/incident reports to Human Resources within 24 hours.
* Work with Infection Control to evaluate tasks involving potential exposure risks.
* Perform regular inspections of storage, utility, and janitorial areas.
* Participate in surveys and inspections by regulatory agencies.
* Create corrective action plans for any maintenance deficiencies noted during inspections.
* Recommend and implement adjustments to maintenance services to maintain safety and cleanliness.
* Complete required documentation, forms, evaluations, and reports.
* Oversee vendor-contracted work to ensure proper completion and compliance.
* Perform environmental and safety compliance inspections.
* Maintain updated life safety and preventive maintenance logs in the facility’s online system.
* Prioritize and assign work orders to staff, ensuring prompt and quality completion.
* Designate a backup when absent from the facility.
* Assist with department budget preparation and monitor expenses accordingly.
*Requirements*:
* Minimum 3 years of supervisory maintenance experience.
* Experience in a nursing home or healthcare facility strongly preferred.
* Strong team player with a cooperative attitude.
* Compassionate and respectful communication style with residents and families.
* Responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented.
* Problem solver with sound decision-making skills.
