JOB SUMMARY:  The Director of Racetrack Operations provides overall leadership, planning, and execution of live racing events, ensuring races are conducted safely, fairly, and successfully while delivering an exceptional experience for both guests and horsemen.  This role manages seasonal bar, parimutuel teller, simulcast wagering, grandstand maintenance at Wyoming Downs Racetrack in Evanston, WY and simulcast operations for Wyoming Downs, Lucky 7’s and Derby Club locations around the state. SCOPE:  The Director of Live Racing Operations will work closely with the General Manager to provide both strategic direction and hands on oversight for all aspects of the Live Race Program. This covers racing administration, race day execution, racing officials, horsemen relations, wagering integrity, guest satisfaction, budget management, and strict compliance with state and industry regulations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and oversee the plan for live race meets including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure operational excellence, coordinating with various departments to ensure efficient execution of projects. Ensure full compliance with Wyoming Gaming Commission rules and all pari-mutuel wagering regulations. Ensure adherence to Title 31 regulations including reporting to compliance manager. Maintain a presence throughout live race days, available as point-of-contact for collaboration for various racing operations decisions. To provide exceptional customer service to guests and ensure their complete satisfaction, inclusive of greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly and enthusiastic manner, anticipating and meeting guest needs and preferences, remaining calm and professional when dealing with guests that are difficult or upset. Ability to keep a friendly, calm, and helpful demeanor in high-stress situations and in a continuously fast-paced environment. The ability to develop and maintain professional, trusting, and positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, staff, coworkers, guests, and vendors. The ability and willingness to ensure that work activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner. The ability to work safely. Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry. SIMULCAST RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure accurate and timely transmission of race signals. Coordinate with broadcast providers to maintain uninterrupted service. Schedule all RCN broadcasts for Wyoming Downs and Lucky 7’s locations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with event calendars. Monitor wagering activity for compliance and accuracy. Troubleshoot and resolve technical or operational issues during live races. Maintain compliance with all state racing commission regulations for simulcast operations. Build and distribute monthly simulcast schedules for all Wyoming Downs and Lucky 7’s locations, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to all sites. Ensure daily United Tote operations, including but not limited to responding to and resolving trouble calls for OTB’s such as Derby Club, Wyoming Downs, and Lucky 7’s. Respond to and repair (when possible) RCN satellite equipment used for simulcast distribution of signals on-site. Repair and maintain TV modulation equipment and televisions at all Wyoming Downs, Lucky 7’s, and Derby Club locations around the state. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time throughout the state to OTB parlors. Oversee visits and installations of equipment for United Tote to ensure proper setup, functionality, and compliance with operational needs. Set up all TV distribution of live race and simulcast signals at the racetrack to ensure optimal viewing for guests and operational areas. RACETRACK RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee general facility maintenance and repairs at Wyoming Downs Racetrack. Coordinate with vendors and contractors for major repairs and upgrades. Ensure all public and back-of-house (Grandstands) areas are clean, safe, and operational. Monitor supplies for cleaning and place orders when needed to ensure continuous availability. Ensure camera system is operational, coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary. Oversee projects for camera expansion, including planning, installation, and integration with existing systems. Work with IT on networking and surveillance issues and perform repairs when possible to maintain stable and secure connectivity. Respond promptly to maintenance issues to minimize downtime during events. Oversee bar operations, including inventory management, ordering, staffing, and compliance with liquor laws. Ensure staff adherence to alcohol service policies and age verification procedures. Track and reconcile bar sales and inventory to control costs and prevent loss. Coordinate beverage ordering and delivery schedules with vendors. Provide training to bartenders and barbacks on service standards, safety, and compliance Manage seasonal mutuel tellers and bar team members, including hiring, scheduling, training, timecard approvals and performance evaluation. Ensure accurate handling of wagering transactions and payouts. Monitor compliance with gaming regulations. Provide ongoing training to improve customer service and operational efficiency. Coordinate with United Tote on system updates, troubleshooting, and operational needs. Manage promotional vouchers and coupons within the United Tote System, ensuring accurate issuance, tracking, and reconciliation. Verify all racing cards before wagering opens to ensure accuracy and prevent wagering errors. Produce and print pocket programs for the gate crew to ensure accurate race-day information distribution. Print and organize all programs for the simulcast area to ensure availability and accessibility for guests and staff. • KEY SUCCESS INDICATORS: Must demonstrate the ability to successfully represent the company and the brand in all interactions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in live racing operations, racetrack management, or closely related field, preferably within Wyoming or similar jurisdictions. Minimum of 5 years in a management or leadership role, preferred. In depth understanding of Wyoming Gaming Commission rules and regulations governing pari-mutuel wagering and live horse racing. High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required. Internal candidates must have been in their current position for at least 90 days and have no active disciplinary action. Ability to work a variety of shifts, this includes day, swing, late-night, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Wyoming gaming/racing license. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must pass any and all required background checks.
