Hudson Regional Health System (HRHS) seeks a results-driven and collaborative laboratory leader to oversee diagnostic and clinical laboratory operations for Bayonne University Hospital and Secaucus University Hospital. The Director is accountable for ensuring regulatory compliance, service quality, and operational efficiency across both campuses, supporting HRHS’s mission of delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. Position Summary The Director manages all inpatient and outpatient laboratory functions for Bayonne and Secaucus hospitals, including technical operations, staffing, compliance, and financial performance. The position ensures consistency, quality, and innovation across both campuses while supporting HRHS’s broader laboratory strategy. This position reports directly to the System Chief Operating Officer. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of clinical laboratory services across Bayonne and Secaucus facilities. Ensure full compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, OSHA, FDA, and applicable state regulations. Supervise laboratory leadership teams, including supervisors, and technical personnel. Maintain appropriate staffing, scheduling, and budgetary controls to ensure cost-effective performance. Collaborate with hospital executives, medical directors, and clinical departments to support patient care initiatives. Lead continuous quality improvement and performance optimization efforts across both sites. Manage equipment procurement, service contracts, and laboratory supply chains. Partner with IT and system teams to standardize data, reporting, and laboratory information systems. Track and report KPIs, turnaround times, and quality metrics to system leadership. Participate in HRHS system-level meetings and cross-facility standardization initiatives. Leadership & Collaboration Serve as the administrative and operational leader for laboratory services at Bayonne and Secaucus campuses. Collaborate directly with the System COO and other hospital executives to align goals and share best practices. Work closely with other HRHS laboratory leaders to advance system standardization and integration. Promote employee engagement, professional development, and a culture of continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Current licensure and national certification (ASCP, NCA, or AMT) required. Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in laboratory management, including multi-site leadership preferred. Reference Lab experience preferred. Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, budget management, and process improvement methodologies. Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
