The role you'll contribute:

Manage hospital laboratory processes, spending, develop laboratory strategy along with the Centura Laboratory Services, Medical Director and Hospital Administrators. Maintain a set of balanced scorecard metrics, lead the integration of the laboratory within the hospital environment, manage relationships of the laboratory with other hospital services, manage the lab personnel, maintain an understanding of IT systems and data sources associated with hospital laboratory services.

  • Maintain a high level of proficiency and current knowledge of trends in methodology, technology, and ways to deliver service in regard to laboratory medicine. Coaches' leaders and team to meet strategic and operational goals. Ensures compliance with all Centura policies and procedures, HR, Corporate responsibility, etc. Provides a safe and engaged environment for associates to work in. Collaborate with other laboratories, CoLS, or hospital sites to implement evidence-based practice or system best practices.
  • Operationalize policies and procedures developed by Centura Laboratory Services and the Hospitals. Establish policies and procedures necessary for site-specific processes in conjunction with the Quality Director and Technical Operations Director and appropriate specialist. Ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and guidelines of our regulatory agencies; CLIA, CAP, TJC, CMS, etc. Ensure that process performance metrics (Scorecard) meet internal goals and the expectations of the customers of various hospital services. Maintain an understanding of information systems (LIS, EHR, DI, etc) to optimize our quality, service and work environment. Utilize a formal quality management method; Focus PDCA, Six Sigma, LEAN, etc.
  • Understand and effectively use tools available to manage financial performance of laboratory; EPSi, Lawson, databases, etc. Ensure inventory management mechanisms are in place. Develop operating budget annually in collaboration with Centura Laboratory Services leadership. Schedule and assign personnel to optimize productivity and minimize unbudgeted hours. Review financial metrics monthly. Develop and implement action plans on any unfavorable spending trends.
  • Represent the laboratory in system laboratory meetings, hospital and, medical staff committee meetings as required. Consults with medical, nursing and administrative staff on a regular basis to coordinate and improve service and quality of patient care. Handle and resolve customer complaints in a timely manner. Ensure integration of lab quality improvement initiatives with that of the hospital. Establish and maintain productive working relationships with other hospital divisions and medical staff.

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 yrs of Related Experience
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (CSSBB)
  • Certified Project Manager
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
