Provide leadership and direction to the various departments serving ESE students and families.
Coordinate services to families of students served in exceptional student education.
Assist with building leadership capacity at local school campuses to support the learning of all students, including students with disabilities.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal policies, rules and laws to provide services to students with disabilities.
Ensure equitable and effective staffing of services for students with disabilities.
Assist with the management and response to concerns or complaints related to special education matters.
Ensure instructional improvements and teacher effectiveness for the teaching and learning of special
educators and special education leaders.
Work closely with the school district's attorney to ensure legal procedures are followed.
Ensure strong, on-going communication with Principals and district leaders.
Maintain documentation and complete records required by state and federal laws and regulations.
Keep abreast of federal and state laws and policies and ensure compliance.
Attend meetings and trainings as required.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications :
Minimum of a Master's degree, required; Georgia Leadership Certification, required.
Minimum of five years of school-based leadership, required.
Ability to work well with teachers, school administrative teams, and district office leadership.
Must possess a proven track record of building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
