Summary:
The Director of Infection Control works in conjunction with the hospital epidemiologist and the chairperson of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee on all infection prevention and control issues and programs in order to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors at Westchester Medical Center. This individual manages the infection control function and is responsible for program development, education and related activities. Supervision is exercised over professional level staff within the Infection Control Department. Does related work as required.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree* in a health care related field
Experience:
Five years of professional nursing experience in a hospital or health care facility, including three where the primary responsibility was establishing standards and procedures for the management of an infection control program in an acute care hospital or health care setting.
Licenses/Certifications:
Possession of a valid license and current registration issued by the New York State Education Department as a Registered Professional Nurse
Substitutions: A Master's degree* in nursing or epidemiology may be substituted for one year of the above stated general nursing experience. There is no substitution for the specialized experience
