The Director of HR & Staffing is responsible for overseeing all human resources functions and managing the scheduling of staff to ensure quality care and compliance in the assisted living community. This role balances recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and staff development with the day-to-day scheduling and staffing needs of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Functions:
Lead recruitment, hiring, and onboarding for all facility positions (nursing, caregiving, dietary, housekeeping, admin).
Administer payroll, benefits, employee records, and compliance documentation.
Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures in line with state and federal regulations.
Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
Support leadership in workforce planning, retention, and engagement strategies.
Coordinate staff training and ensure compliance with HIPAA, labor laws, and healthcare regulations.
Staffing & Scheduling Functions:
Create, maintain, and update schedules for nursing, caregiving, and support staff.
Manage call-outs, PTO requests, and last-minute shift coverage.
Monitor staffing levels to meet resident care needs and state staffing ratio requirements.
Track attendance, overtime, and staffing metrics for leadership reporting.
Work closely with department heads to anticipate and address staffing needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field (preferred).
3–5 years of HR and/or scheduling experience in healthcare, senior living, or long-term care.
Strong knowledge of employment laws, HIPAA, and healthcare compliance.
Proficiency in scheduling software and HRIS systems.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
