The Director of Group Living leadership role is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting at-risk youth in a structured and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring experience in residential programming, a commitment to trauma-informed care, and strong team-building skills. You'll oversee daily operations, mentor staff, and ensure the highest standards of safety and care. You will be part of a team that believes every young person deserves a chance to grow, thrive, and succeed.
Located near the white sand beaches of Northwest Florida in DeFuniak Springs – at Walton Academy, we offer skills and opportunities to our youth from Carpentry/Home Builders Institute, Sports to Culinary Arts. As the Director of Group Living, you will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment where youth can thrive. You’ll lead a dedicated team of staff, ensuring high standards of care, supervision, and programming. Pay: Starting at $65,000 annually. Paid bi-weekly.

Day in the Life: The Director of Group Living implements, manages and monitors Group Living Operations. Responsible for daily schedule, logistics, shift staffing, Operations Manual Compliance, community service activities, Program norms, Positive Operational Culture, Thinking for a Change, Student Club meetings, agenda and activities, Safety, Health and Welfare of staff and students. Facility/Grounds appearance and maintenance. The Director of Group Living is a senior management position that reports to the Program Director and serves as a member of the Site Management Team.
To be considered you should: Possess a BA/BS in a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Substitute degree requirement with experience as long as actively pursuing a degree. Four years of related experience in residential facility management. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple people and projects. Must meet the requirements to be an eligible ROP driver. Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical and TB test. Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week as needed. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities.
