Overview
The Director of Government Relations and Corporate Responsibility integrates the Company’s government relations efforts with its Social Purpose strategies, delivering alignment with the organization’s objectives and governance.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute the strategic plan related to industry, federal, state and local government relations to promote the Company's corporate image and build key partnerships.
Represent the Company on industry boards and committees of strategic importance.
Provide professional writing, research support and draft technical documents on legislative and cultural issues; help develop Company messages to government officials, the press and the public.
Coordinate the Company’s government relations agenda with the CEO, General Counsel, other management, and the Board of Directors; keep internal partners informed and involved.
Direct activities related to the Company's Political Action Committee; establish metrics to baseline performance and document improvements for government relations initiatives.
Develop strategic relationships with internal and external experts (elected officials, NGOs, industry and advocacy groups) to advise senior management on Social Purposes strategies and initiatives.
Oversee the development of metrics to measure performance for social purpose initiatives; create programs and governance frameworks addressing consumer sentiment, trends, and long-term objectives to optimize corporate social responsibility.
Champion causes aligned with the Company’s four Social Purpose pillars (environment, people, product, community); attend relevant functions to strengthen relationships with officials and key individuals.
Prepare and present content to the Company’s Social Purpose and Culture Board Committee.
Provide leadership for the team: set direction, coach, conduct performance appraisals, and participate in hiring decisions.
Communicate effectively and align strategy with cross-organizational partners and policy influencers.
Articulate strategy into actionable plans; analyze information and propose solutions; negotiate effectively.
Handle multiple priorities; work independently and in a team; maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree a plus)
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Government Relations
Minimum of 3 years of experience in ESG
Proven ability to interact with and influence people; strong communication skills to all levels including the Board
Experience leading indirect teams and achieving business objectives
Experience in developing and performing complex financial analyses and business cases
Experience in community engagement related to corporate social responsibility or corporate affairs
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office
