Job Title: Director of Golf Sales Date: August 1, 2025 Hotel: PGA National Resort Department: Sales & Marketing
Summary: The Director of Golf Sales provides day to day leadership to a team of on-property golf sales associates as well as being responsible for increasing golf group room nights, golf revenue and packages for the resort. The Dir of Golf is responsible for achieving his sales objectives, booking goals and property revenues. Develops strategic working relationships with leaders of these sales channels in order to solicit new accounts and proactively position and drive sales to the property. Interfaces with the Marketing team to review collateral and execute the property’s marketing plan. Develops and implements property–wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of PGA National Resort target customer profile and property employees and provides a return on investment to the owner.
Essential Job Functions : include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prospect for new group golf business. Respond to inquiries and requests for proposals. Plan for and execute a predetermined number of sales trips in feeder cities including internationally. Attend industry events as indicated in Marketing Plan. Establish a strong partnership with regional representation companies. Monitor operational execution of accounts with all departments. Research client room night histories for previous events and manage the room block from the time of the booking until the group arrives. Maintain in depth files. Assist in updated Golf Group / Leisure Account database on a continual basis. Understand sales strategies and tactics relating to competitor hotels. Negotiate all rates for golf group accounts within the guidelines of the resort updated strategic sales guidelines. Excellent group presentation, speaking, writing, and training skills. Knowledge of European and South American terms and customs. Possess business analysis skills and the ability to understand and manage complex sales. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to develop and execute account marketing plans and proposals. Ability to effectively organize and execute sales trips both foreign and domestic. Ability to be a leader within the hotel interacting with all levels of customer management professionally. The Director of Golf Sales works with golf sales staff to achieve the goals and helps to work efficiently and successfully to develop and continually enhance relationships with key corporate, business and travel industry accounts, community organizations and professional associations to maintain high visibility and increase our market share. Daily sales calls, entertainment with potential business clients, special promotions, direct mailing, outside appointments, sales blitzes, trade shows, selecting appropriate advertising and attending industry events are some of the necessary activities of this position. Flexible work hours to include weekend and holidays in order to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation
Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university). Minimum of 5 years experience and track record in hotel golf sales. Strong selling, negotiating & closing skills Excellent ability to conduct group presentations, written and oral Demonstrated ability to be creative to develop strategies that will drive revenue Strong business planning, account planning and budget management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and reprioritize to ensure weekly prospecting & outside sales calls goals are met or exceeded Knowledge of Hotel Computer Systems, including Delphi Sales Management Systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and very experienced on Knowland Insight program Involvement in Hotel Sales Organizations and Associations
Language Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills. Service skills including etiquette and ability to work with the public. Knowledge of communications skills, organization skills, ability to deal with diverse clientele, good penmanship.
Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities : Ability to communicate and work well with fellow employees and other departments. Maintain a presentable appearance, behavior and manner at all times. Ability to process administrative work. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be sitting for extended periods of time answering and sending emails. Might regularly stand, walk, and talk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to grab, move, lift, or feel objects, and use telephone and copier machines.
