POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Director of Golf is responsible for the daily management and operations of golf department. The Director of Golf is responsible for promoting the game of golf through leadership and an operational structure that provides a first class environment for our guests. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Club Management Manages all Golf Shop, Outside Guest Services, Driving Range, and Cart Maintenance staff Oversees daily golf operations to provide excellent service to our customers while maximizing operational efficiency Plans and administers programs to promote our Tournament, Club Play and Group play. Works with the F&B Management team to create packages for tournaments and banquets Provide a personable and professional golf environment that is highly focused on providing superior customer service at all times Responsible for all golf operations at the Club; carts, bag drop, bag room, range, and golf shop Oversee the daily operations of the golf department including supervising a team of 15-25 staff Work with assistant professionals to develop golf programs and services that foster a passion for golf, good sportsmanship, and commitment to our Club. Golf Shop Operations Acts as Administrator for the Golf Shop POS System Ensure to provide the appropriate training to the staff Cover shift at Pro Shop as needed Coordinates activities of the Golf Shop personnel to assist in merchandise sales, tagging, and stocking Works with Assistant Golf Professionals to ensure the tee sheet is managed properly Handle and resolve customer complaints or issues when arises Marketing Recommends and establishes ways to improve golf operations to improve profitability and efficiency of the Golf Operations Division Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, HR & Accounting office, Event Planners, Sales and Marketing Merchandising Works to assure the Golf Shop is well stocked with the appropriate amount of inventory. Responsible for the scheduling and processing of the monthly physical inventory. Managerial Conducts the employment interviews for hiring and make a decision to hire Recommends disciplinary action to be taken regarding personnel under golf operations to the Human Resources Manager Conducts all probationary, annual and performance evaluations. Recommends wage increases for all golf operations personnel to the upper management Implement and represent Club mission and values within the department. Responsible for staffing and personnel supervision and/or oversight of assistant golf professionals, golf shop staff, bag room & cart attendants, and interns Annually review personnel on their performance, train and coach team, conduct staff meetings, and mentor them for their professional growth in the golf industry Develop, implement and monitor the annual golf budget to achieve revenue and cost goals. Ensure that accounting functions and golf control practices are in place and operating to meet Club standards Manage the golf retail shop, train associates, merchandise and present the shop to Club standards and maximize profitability through proactive retail systems Represent the Club in PGA sponsored golf functions, with the approval of the General Manager as time permits, with the goal of maintaining PGA certification This job description is not a complete list of specific duties, nor restricts managements right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables Professional and effective verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to adapt communication style to suit different audience Effective facilitation skills to facilitate a presentation Must have strong interpersonal skills Must be able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment Must be able to work with the diverse working environment such as age, cultures, languages, and genders Must have strong customer service skill. Previous experience in resolving customer complaints is highly desirable Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public Must demonstrate a positive attitude at all times Must provide outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers Working Conditions Must be able to work a flexible schedule including day, evening, weekdays, weekends and holiday based on the business needs Must be able to both indoors with A/C and outdoors General Office Equipment: printers, copiers, facsimile, laminating machine, shredders, PC (Windows, Microsoft Office suite) Golf Operation Equipment: Golf Carts, POS system, Cashier, GPS systems, Ball Pickers Must be able to stand, sit, bend, stretch, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
