Position Summary

The Director of Supply Chain role at Hawaiian Host Group (HHG) is responsible for driving the strategic direction and operational excellence of the company’s supply chain operations. This senior leadership role requires a hands-on, practical, cross-functional, and visionary approach to supply chain management. This role leads, oversees, and is responsible for the following functions: Procurement, Contract Manufacturing (CoMan), Demand Planning, Supply Planning, and Sales/Inventory/Operations Planning (SIOP). The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of people development, supply chain strategic leadership, strong tactical execution, systems excellence, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced CPG environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as a strategic, cross-functional leader, guiding key supply chain functions and collaborating with all areas of the business.
  • Sponsor and support the SIOP / S&OP process cross-functionally to drive revenue growth, customer service, reduce cost, and reduce waste while building supply chain excellence.
  • Manage commodity PPV to optimize financial results, including market dynamics, hedging, tariffs, and timing of procurement and production.
  • Drive excellence with supplier performance and cost across all inputs to manufacturing.
  • Develop and elevate the Supply Chain function by building a high-performing team and advancing capabilities including MRP, demand planning, and an integrated S&OP.
  • Develop and execute supply chain initiatives that optimize procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and distribution to align with company goals.
  • Lead a hands-on leadership style, working alongside frontline employees to identify gaps and opportunities and reflect employee voices in decisions.
  • Establish and oversee KPIs and dashboards to measure and improve supply chain performance.
  • Lead optimization of freight, warehousing/inventory, and distribution costs.
  • Formulate and execute e-sourcing and procurement strategies to source high-quality materials at competitive prices and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Develop and manage alternative suppliers to ensure resilience and flexibility; negotiate contracts and pricing formulas.
  • Oversee outsourcing for co-manufacturing and co-packing domestically and internationally to enhance flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and optimize freight costs and routes, including shipments to Asia, and improve 3PL performance.
  • Develop and oversee warehousing strategies in North America and Hawaii, aligning with objectives.
  • Implement and optimize inventory management systems to increase turns and reduce carrying costs, leveraging ERP capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement to streamline operations, reduce costs, and maintain quality and compliance.
  • Oversee production planning and scheduling to maximize efficiency, minimize lead times, and meet targets.
  • Lead the demand planning function for accurate forecasting and inventory management.
  • Develop risk management strategies to mitigate disruptions and ensure business continuity.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Provide strategic supervision and mentorship to the Supply Chain and Demand Planning teams.
  • Promote internal bench strength and expertise to meet current and future challenges.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to align supply chain strategies with business demands.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and strategic planning processes.
  • Undertake special projects assigned by executive leadership, demonstrating flexibility and proactivity.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to oversee operations and establish relationships.
  • Adhere to company policies and uphold high standards in all responsibilities; regular attendance is required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience. MBA preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive experience in supply chain management, including five (5) years in a leadership role, preferably in the CPG industry.
  • Strong people leadership and development of supply chain leaders.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing supply chain strategies that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and drive improvements.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision-making.
  • Outstanding leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker capable of anticipating challenges and opportunities and developing proactive solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in supply chain software, ERP systems, and Advanced Excel; knowledge of best practices in CPG.
  • APICS/CSCMP certification preferred.
