Supervisory experience Position Summary The director leads day-to-day operations for the Georgia College Advising Corps (GCAC), a near peer college access program which places recent college graduates in high schools for a maximum of two years of service to assist students in the college going process.
This position manages all aspects of this college advising program including personnel management; financial management; grant writing and donor development; high school relationships; curricular development, implementation and evaluation; and liaison to the national office. The program leader recruits and supervises + employees (advisers, program coordinator, graduate assistant, staff); writes grants and solicits donations for program sustainability; manages $1+ million dollar budget, all from external funds; evaluates ongoing and new high school partnerships; and leads summer and in-service training for advisers. To affiliate with the national College Advising Corps, programs will meet national standards.
The director serves as the liaison to participating high schools, to other partners in Georgia, to program funders, to the national College Advising Corps, and to other departments and programs at the University of Georgia. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Experience with college access programs and/or college enrollment functions.
Experience working in K- school settings

Frequent travel throughout the state of Georgia especially in the Atlanta and Athens area to visit local high schools and meet with potential donors.

Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Leadership and Program Management Lead program to achieve goals aligned with increasing college enrollment (programs are judged by national standards)
Provide effective day-to-day management of personnel, finances, partner relationships, and all programmatic components
Develop long-term plans for program sustainability, including outreach and marketing, fundraising, continuous improvement, and evaluation
Supervise + college advisers, a program coordinator, and 2 graduate assistants Percentage of time Duties/Responsibilities Personnel Management, Training, and Oversight Supervise the advertisement of advisor positions and recruitment initiatives
Participate in panels and speak in classrooms to promote the opportunity to serve as an adviser
Serve as the applicant manager on UGAJobs to screen adviser candidates, lead the team in the selection of candidates to interview, lead panel and group interviews, and select and hire advisers who meet the unique needs of each partner school
Work with UGA Human Resources personnel and the MIHE Business Operations Manager to ensure advisers are hired and onboarded according to UGA policy
Lead AmeriCorps onboarding and compliance related to the national College Advising Corps subgrant Percentage of time Duties/Responsibilities Curricular Management and Evaluation Design and lead the planning and implementation of a month-long pre-service training, ongoing in-service training and professional development throughout the school year
Oversee ongoing evaluation of adviser progress-to-goals
Assess adviser effectiveness and provide interventions and support
Assist advisers in the development of strategies to meet goals
Ensure advisers have strong coaching, leadership, and supervision
Regularly analyze data collected through the College Advising Corps’ web-based platform, GRACE, to gauge the effectiveness and impact of individual advisers and the program as a whole
Conduct high school site visits with advisers and their site liaison to assess adviser and program performance and collaborate with principal, counselors, and other related school staff Percentage of time Duties/Responsibilities Budget and Grant Management Oversee GCAC program budget of $1,,+, including creation of annual budget and ongoing fiscal oversight
Use the UGA OneSource Financial Management System to approve expenses, submit vendor payments, and make program purchases using UGAmart
Regularly review program expenditures and budget reports with the MIHE Business Operations Manager and MIHE Director
Manage all aspects of grant funding, including grant writing, identification and pursuit of grant opportunities, completion of reports, and coordination of site visits
Collaborate with UGA Foundation Relations staff to maintain existing relationships and seek out new foundation partners
Track and manage grant funds to assure their proper use, maintain records, and prepare financial reports as necessary
Work with representatives from Sponsored Projects Administration to ensure proper grant management and oversight Percentage of time Duties/Responsibilities Relationship Management Establish, nurture, and sustain relationships, communication, and collaboration between GCAC, advisers, and partners high schools and districts
Work with the GCAC program coordinator on Atlanta-area partnerships
Identify and evaluate schools and districts where GCAC might expand service
Onboard new partner high schools as they begin relationships with GCAC
Communicate regularly with national College Advising Corps staff and participate in monthly webinars, national conferences, knowledge sharing, and program director professional development activities
Provide ongoing updates about GCAC to the UGA campus community and facilitate engagement with UGA departments including Human Resources, Career Services, Financial Aid, Division of Academic Enhancement, Admissions, Diversity and Inclusion, and Sponsored Programs
Represent the program to media, community organizations and other interested parties
