Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead and oversee safety initiatives for our trucking operations. This role focuses on promoting safety for owner-operators, managing hazard mitigation, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures tailored for owner-operators and company drivers.
Promote a safety-first culture through training, communication, and ongoing safety initiatives.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of truck and operational records.
Oversee hazard identification and mitigation strategies to minimize risks associated with trucking operations and load securement (hat mat).
Monitor compliance with FMCSA regulations, Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, and industry best practices.
Collaborate with owner-operators to improve safety performance and provide education on safety protocols.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and safety violations, and develop corrective action plans.
Manage safety training programs and certifications for drivers and staff.
Prepare and present safety reports, audit findings, and improvement plans to management.
Liaise with authorities during inspections, audits, and investigations.
Requirements: Proven experience as a Safety Director or similar role in the trucking/logistics industry.
Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and safety standards.
Experience with hazard assessment, risk management, and safety audits.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze data and develop actionable safety strategies.
Certification in Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) or equivalent preferred.
