SUMMARY
The Director of Finance is a key leadership role in a critical-care air medical healthcare organization and will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations and ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. This requires managing financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and reporting, as well as providing financial analysis and decision support. The Director of Finance also plays a crucial role in managing change, collaborating with leaders to enhance operational understanding, and improving the bottom line.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage and mentor finance team members, ensuring effective financial operations and professional development. Periodically reviews the adequacy of staffing levels to workload and organizational needs, making appropriate recommendations. All Leaders will practice Just Culture principles.
- Develop and implement the annual budget process, collaborating with leaders to incorporate strategic initiatives, operational efficiency, and expense management throughout the budget. Coordinates the timely completion of the budget and effectively presents the consolidated budget to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors for approval.
- Oversee a structured, rigorous, dependable, and timely process for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for presentation to Management and the Board of Directors. Develop and implement a comprehensive, effective set of monthly management reports to elevate financial understanding and improve organizational performance.
- Develops and maintains banking relationships and coordinates all financing programs with financial institutions. Interacts with financial consultants as needed. Forecasts and monitors the cash flow requirements and maximizes return on invested funds.
- At the direction of the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, meets the need for the short and long-term borrowing requirements, establishes a relationship with a Financial Advisor, if necessary, and ensures compliance with all debt covenants.
- Assists the Executive Director in the evaluation and financial analysis of special projects related to our mission. This may include improving cost-effectiveness and operational capabilities, sourcing and completion of helicopters, analysis of operations including existing or new bases, negotiation of contracts, including aviation services, and establishment of a long-term strategic plan.
- Oversees and actively manages the revenue cycle process, including coding and billing completed weekly by staff. Responsible for the calculation of Allowances in accordance with GAAP and providing reports in support of all aspects of Accounts Receivable. Continuously seeks to improve the timeliness of payment and improve collection rates. Responsible for and ensures compliance with all government and other third-party billing requirements. Produces KPI metrics and communicates them regularly with all stakeholders.
- Partners with the Human Resource Manager on all functions that impact company performance, including reviewing and determining the fiscal impact of processes including, but not limited to employee benefit plans, payroll processing, annual employee increases, hiring of new positions, and setting wage scales.
- Actively participates in the Leadership Team. Interact effectively and communicate clearly with all committees as assigned.
- Maintains a relationship with one Member’s Risk Management Department to ensure an annual insurance review is performed and appropriate coverage exists for general liability, property, and other specialized insurance coverage.
- Directs the annual audit process to timely completion. Coordinate the presentation of the completed audit to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors for approval.
- Performs an annual review of all Finance Policies and Procedures. Update policies, develop and implement policies and write new policies as needed.

Requirements:EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONSRequired:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum of 10-years of experience working in progressively more responsible accounting roles, most recently in a leadership role.
- Excels at understanding, articulating, and applying best practices and principles of accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Strategic thinker who works best in a team environment.
- Proficient understanding and application of GAAP and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people skills.
Preferred:
- Certified Public Account (CPA) license.
- Public accounting and/or healthcare experience a plus.
- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or Accounting.
- Non-Profit experience.
