LEVEL/POSITION: DIRECTOR OF FINANCE - Accounting
REPORTS TO: CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Finance is responsible for supervising the operations of the accounting and financial reporting function of the District. This position ensures the establishment of appropriate control procedures; ensures compliance with generally accepted governmental accounting standards and Florida Department of Education rules and regulations; and is responsible for coordinating the financial and operational audits of the Auditor General and other external auditors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: L-Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoors/Outdoors The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Noise The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education – Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
Florida Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate or master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Business Management.
Experience: Minimum five years experience of supervisory experience in the accounting field.
Previous experience in governmental fund accounting preferred.
Extensive management experience in the areas of finance, budget, and other related functions in a school system, government, or large corporation preferred.
Computer Skills : Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology, as required for the position.
Experience in data entry and Microsoft Suite
Certificates and/or Licenses : Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license or obtain within 30 work days and the ability to drive.
