The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) is the only committee solely dedicated to electing a Democratic Senate. From organizing to fundraising to candidate recruitment, the DSCC works around-the-clock to re-elect Democratic senators and send new leaders to Washington who will move our country forward. This role places a critical part in managing the existing physical space of the DSCC and taking the lead on planning for the future of the DSCC building to ensure that the Committee is set up to be successful in its mission of fighting for a Democratic Senate Majority.

This individual will be responsible for all physical building operations at the DSCC, ensuring that the changing needs of the DSCC building, US Senators and DSCC staff are met on a daily and long term basis. Reporting to the COO, the Director of Facilities & Building Operations will work in partnership with existing building contractors and will work closely with the front desk staff and manage the building security team. Additionally, this role will take the lead in managing the development and execution of a large scale building renovation. This role will be the primary point of contact between the DSCC building and all contractors, physical security entities and other stakeholders that impact the physical space of the DSCC. In this role, the Director of Facilities & Building Operations will engage in facility oversight, project management, contract and asset management and be responsible for the general well being of the building.
Ideal candidates must have the ability to navigate changing and politically sensitive situations in a timely manner and project manage while adhering to tight deadlines. We are looking for a process and solutions oriented individual.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all building operations in a historic building that is part of the Capitol Complex on Capitol Hill, including but not limited to maintenance and major repairs in compliance with building code and requirements. Project manage building improvement projects in both the short and long term. Work with the Staff Assistants at the Front Desk, ensuring that they have what is needed to serve as the face of the DSCC. Oversee DSCC physical security, including management of the SPO force on site and notify DSCC leadership and staff of security incidents as necessary. Ensure that all rooms and event space are appropriately maintained before and after events. Manage the DSCC building management board to determine what improvements are needed for the DSCC HQ in both the short and long term. Liaise between the building vendors and the DSCC, leading requests to vendors as required and serving as the primary contract for all building contracts. Liaise with the IT department to ensure that the building IT needs are met. Plan for and respond to inclement weather and special events on Capitol Hill.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Excellent knowledge of building services and facility management. Experience in large scale project planning and management. Security experience within a political organization or private corporation. Experience in managing contract security officers. Knowledge of OSHA and building codes. Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices. Able to prioritize, multi-task, follow-through, and remain organized with attention to detail while working independently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Personable, enthusiastic, and a ‘can-do’ attitude with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with vendors and contractors. Strong team player and supervisor, able to build strong relationships with others in the department. Ability to work extended hours as needed. Experience with Google Suite.
The salary for this position is $110,000 annualized.
