Responsibilities Summary: Provides the overall direction to a highly technical team of engineers in conceptualization and execution of best-in-class performance products for the OEMs with a direct focus on performance, ride comfort, safety requirements, quality and profitability. Directs projects to incorporate relevant design expertise, sharing of technical information and best practices. Drives key performance indicators across all areas of the Engineering function to ensure all projects are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards. Provides clear leadership and vision to inspire and motivate the team to achieve excellence and develop strong professionals and future leaders. Manages an engineering, prototyping and industrial design team to meet time, budget and quality goals. Ensures strong communication between teams to facilitate exchange of information and implement recommended and/or required changes and improvements. Responsible for product development to include concept and design of new products and planned products, oversight of all research and development efforts at the company and managing timelines and budgets. Trains and develops the engineering team to increase know how & team capabilities. Provides oversight of product design to ensure longevity, customer value, design for manufacturing and design for purchasing. Contributes to the strategic direction of Bilstein of America as a member of the senior leadership team. Provides technical expertise and leadership in establishing the goals and priorities for the organization. Ensures that engineering strategies and processes are aligned with BU and in place to meet organizational objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality, and delivery targets. Creates and implements best practices and global engineering standards as part of the engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve organizational performance. Evaluates the challenges faced by the Engineering team and proactively acts to mitigate risks and develop opportunities. Uses global network to challenge and improve concepts & solutions. Is an active part of global design and process release workshops. Supports project management of cross-functional activities required for project execution. Reports on engineering activities on a regular basis to Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators. Sets department objectives and monitors ongoing process and performance. Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance. Qualifications Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in either Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field. Substantial experience in a Tier I engineering function with proven experience in a client facing leadership role. Substantial experience in mechanical engineering with proven track record of developing premium consumer products. Has existing OEM customer network and is knowledgeable of market trends and developments. Is familiar with and understands automotive standards, processes and IATF requirements. Demonstrated subject matter expertise in a variety of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures to include release designs and decision making skills around key topics such as major capital expenditures. Proven experience leading and motivating teams in situations associated with high volumes of work and/or customer demands to include providing direction, coaching, and effective feedback to team members. Possesses a high level of product and manufacturing knowledge to lead, drive and implement Company strategy at the highest level. Demonstrates and entrepreneurial/innovative strategic mind-set with interest in growing a brand and the organization. Consistently demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills to include influencing, collaboration and building of strong, lasting relationships. Understanding of and ability to work in a matrix management organization. Must possess and display highly effective presentation Is self-directed and motivated, possesses a strong drive for results and is goal and detail oriented Proven ability to build professional relationships and create high levels of commitment and performance within teams. Subscribes to and applies a team-based management style. Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Can interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance. Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers. Knowledge of SAP Integrated Business software. Developed knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must be able to travel internationally often and without much notification.
