The Atlanta plant is the first of many plants for Nexus and is where we currently operate the company’s initial commercial production facility.   The Atlanta plant is doubling its capacity over the next 12 months with its next generation technology as well as extensive growth in the Company overall with the building of new sites.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to join our team and support the development of the chemical, mechanical, and electrical systems that govern our chemical manufacturing process. This role will also be responsible for building out standard engineering processes that are scalable and repeatable at multiple remote facilities throughout the United States.
This role will be responsible for managing all process and design engineering disciplines to align priorities with the business goals.
This role reports to Nexus Circular’s VP of Engineering.
Responsibilities
Provide visionary leadership and direction for the engineering department, overseeing a dedicated team of engineers and technical professionals.
Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration to meet our strategic objectives.
Lead the design, development, and enhancement of our portfolio. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Site Selection, Construction, and Finance, to bring cutting-edge products to market.
Manage the engineering schedule to align with the construction of all new plants.
Lead engineering in using robust design methodologies and tools to optimize designs to improve scalability, reproducibility, and throughput.
Improve design for manufacturing and service and reduce costs as needed to deliver on quality, reliability, and cost targets.
Manage the engineering department's budget efficiently, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to support current projects and future initiatives.
Attract, retain, and nurture top engineering talent. Foster an environment where professionals can grow, learn, and innovate.
Identify potential risks in engineering projects and develop proactive mitigation plans to minimize disruptions to production.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners, fostering strong business relationships.
Requirements
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, master’s degree preferred.
Proven track record (10+ years) of engineering leadership roles in manufacturing growth and mature organizations
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Strong understanding of manufacturing and construction.
Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in project management and budget management.
Ability to lead a diverse team and cultivate a culture of innovation.
Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment while driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.
Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and ability to work accurately, with interruptions, to meet deadlines in short lead times.
Communicate with co-workers, vendors, customers, and various business contacts courteously and professionally.
Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential documents and situations.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
