What You'll Do:
CoreWeave is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the development of our Cluster Orchestration product suite for AI/ML workloads. In this highly technical and strategic role, you will lead a world-class team to design, build, and operate GPU cluster orchestration solutions at scale. You'll collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to ensure our cluster orchestration is seamless, Kubernetes-native anddelivers a unified experience across CoreWeave products. About the role:
Define and drive CoreWeave's end-to-end Cluster Orchestration roadmap covering SUNK (Slurm on Kubernetes), and expand it using Kueue-powered quota management, and Kubeflow ML pipelines. Hire, lead and grow a high-performing team of software engineers and managers. Design and implement advanced solutions, including low-latency, high-scale orchestration cluster management stacks (Slurm, Kubernetes) across all products. Own the SUNK control plane, scaling Slurm schedulers across thousands of GPU nodes while maintaining sub-second job-enqueue latency. Introduce and evolve Kueue to handle multi-tenant queueing, admission control, and pre-emption policies that balance cost, performance, and fairness. Integrate Kubeflow components to give customers one-click ML workflows on CoreWeave. Build solutions that offer insights to customers for rapid troubleshooting of their AI workloads. Champion initiatives to improve reliability, durability, and self-healing capabilities of orchestration metrics, and assume operational responsibilities.Develop operational review practices to assess performance against targets and iterating on those targets. Mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices in product engineering, fostering a customer-focused approach to systems design and technical excellence. Who You Are: 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, or cloud systems. 5+ years in engineering leadership roles, including hiring, scaling, and mentoring teams. Proven track record of building and managing large-scale distributed systems or infrastructure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey storage engineering strategies and practices to technical and non-technical audiences. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Deep knowledge of GPU scheduling, quota enforcement, and multi-tenant fairness algorithms. Understanding of cloud computing infrastructure using Kubernetes would be a plus. Hands-on experience with at least two of SUNK, Slurm, Kueue, or Kubeflow at production scale is a plus. The base salary range for this role is $206,000 to $303,000. The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation. In addition to base salary, our total rewards package includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits program (all based on eligibility).

Our Workplace
While we prioritize a hybrid work environment, remote work may be considered for candidates located more than 30 miles from an office, based on role requirements for specialized skill sets. New hires will be invited to attend onboarding at one of our hubs within their first month. Teams also gather quarterly to support collaboration
