Position Title: Director of Employee Relations and Compliance Position Summary: The Director of Employee Relations and Compliance will set strategic direction, vision, and goals for all aspects of employee relations across the College and work within the campus as a strategic representative of the Office of Human Resources. This position is responsible for overseeing all Employee Relations and Compliance (i.e., Title IX, Online Reporting System, etc.) activities, employees resolution of complaints and grievances, policy and procedure inquiries and providing training on related matters.
This role will oversee the policies, procedures, and programs of the College Employee Relations area, interface with administration, faculty and staff in the development, revision, processing and communication of policies and procedures. This role requires discretion, judgment, initiative, and a deep understanding of the Colleges policies, procedures and state, federal and higher education legislation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Manage the employee relations program for the College for employees at all levels and classifications. Offer a full range of consultative and programmatic services including, but not limited to, the following: supervisory consultations related to employee performance and conduct, progressive disciplinary, and separations from the College (e.g., discontinuations and dismissals); advisement and counseling to faculty and staff involving workplace concerns and disputes; monitoring workplace culture and climate, and management of employee engagement surveys. Provide leadership in ensuring best practices on a wide range of employee relations issues; provides advice and guidance on complex and challenging matters. Work with the Office of Campus Public Safety, Title IX, General Counsel, Ombuds, Human Resources and other departments, to respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Advise/refers faculty and staff on appropriate grievance procedures, oversee the mediation process, advises supervisors and managers on corrective action procedures, and provides employee relations support to departments. Facilitate or liaise with investigations into alleged violations of college policies, aid in preparing investigation reports and providing guidance to academic and administrative units on addressing the outcome of such investigations; manages the employee appeals processes. Analyze and evaluate data on employee retention and related issues, conduct exit interviews and provide recommendations and support to management. Assist with providing employee relations, performance management and compliance-related training to and working with institutional representatives to maintain compliance standards. Collaborate with key stakeholders in developing and improving programs related to employee morale and satisfaction. Maintain the highest levels of integrity, confidentiality, and a commitment to creating an environment in which employees can thrive.

Ability to build strong working relationships, instilling trust and confidence in colleagues at all levels. Ability to work successfully with diverse work groups. Self-motivated and able to meet critical deadlines; flexible at setting and revising priorities while managing multiple projects.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in human resources or relevant field of study is required. 57 years of progressive relevant experience related to employee relations, labor relations, or labor/employment law with emphasis on employee relations and engagement, preferably in a higher education setting. Thorough understanding of human resources and labor relations principles, practices, and procedures. Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with employees, boards, officials, directors, and other stakeholders. Experience consulting and coaching supervisors and management in employee relations concerns. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional and high-level manner.
Preferred Qualifications: A masters degree is preferred. Strong leadership and analytical skills Experienced mediator/investigator with well-developed conflict resolution skills. Ability to compose and present comprehensive reports. Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to Title IX, affirmative action and civil rights enforcement. Some experience in higher education, including employee relations experience involving academic faculty is a plus.
Certifications, Licenses, Restrictions : Professional in Human Resources PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP a plus but not required. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit, walk, use hands to handle office supplies, operate computer and other office equipment, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to: reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to: stand, stoop, climb, taste and smell, and lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
