Director of Emergency Services – Full-Time Days

Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-time | Days
Salary Range: $130,000 – $145,000 (based on experience)
Sign-On Bonus: Not offered

Job Description

• Oversee all clinical and operational activities within the Emergency Department

• Lead and coach a team of ~60 FTEs in delivering high-quality, patient-centered emergency care

• Enforce standards of care and implement evidence-based best practices

• Monitor department compliance with all regulatory, hospital, and safety standards

• Drive employee engagement and develop future leaders within the ED team

• Collaborate with hospital leadership to ensure departmental alignment with strategic goals

• Manage departmental budgets, staffing levels, and continuous improvement initiatives

• Participate in hospital-wide committees and facilitate ongoing communication with teams

• Maintain a culture of accountability and service excellence

Qualifications

• 2+ years of recent acute care experience as a Director of Emergency Services
  (May consider a strong ED Manager with 3–5 years of leadership experience)

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required

• Master’s degree (MSN, MHA, MBA, or related) preferred

• Current RN license (Texas or Compact)

• BLS, ACLS, and PALS (or ENPC) certifications required

• Demonstrated success in ED operations and staff development

• Experience with volumes averaging 130–150 patients/day and managing a 28-bed ER preferred

• Emergency Department: 28 beds

• Average ED Volume: ~130–150 visits/day

• Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

• Reason for opening: Prior director was not a fit
