We are seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering for a full time and direct hire role with one of our amazing partners in South Florida. This role will require you to work onsite in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area.
Overview: You will be instrumental in helping scale operations and drive innovation for a company whose products are used for commercial, industrial, and mission-critical applications such as data centers and healthcare facilities. You will lead and oversee an engineering department that is responsible for the design, development, and execution of power distribution products, custom UL switchgear, temporary power products, and integrated electrical solutions. This is a leadership role, where you will guide a team of engineers and technical specialists in supporting manufacturing, product integration, and customer-driven projects from concept through production. You should have a strong background in power systems, industrial controls, and electrical product design.
Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of electrical, mechanical, and controls engineers. Serve as the technical liaison for high-profile customers, contractors, and engineering firms on complex or custom solutions. Oversee the design and development of temporary power products, UL 891 and UL 1008 switchboards, and modular switchgear systems. Work closely with sales, project management, and manufacturing teams to deliver engineered solutions that meet customer and code requirements. Ensure engineering output meets cost, quality, timeline, and compliance objectives (UL 891, UL 508A, UL 1008, NEC, etc.). Maintain a strong focus on compliance with applicable UL, NEC, and other relevant standards. Ensure all engineering deliverables like drawings, schematics, BOMs, technical documentation are accurate, timely, and aligned with project goals. Drive standardization of engineering processes, CAD templates, and product platforms. Manage engineering project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables across multiple simultaneous projects. Collaborate with vendors and supply chain to evaluate and specify electrical components and assemblies. Support continuous improvement initiatives in product design, cost reduction, and manufacturability. Participate in new product development and R&D efforts that are aligned with the companys strategic goals.
Requirements: 7+ years of experience in an engineering role within the electrical distribution, controls, or power systems industry. Strong preference for an electrical background. 3+ years of management or team leadership experience. Proficient in AutoCAD (2D and 3D). Experience with Revit, SolidWorks, or EPLAN is a plus. Knowledge of UL standards (UL 1008, UL 891, UL 508A), NEC codes, and industrial power distribution. Experience with switchgear and control panel design, including low-voltage power systems. Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. PE license or PMP certification is a plus Experience with modular or prefabricated power systems is a plus Data center, commercial, or utility sectors background is a plus. Hands-on experience working in or with manufacturing environments is a plus.
