Overview The role of the Director of Education is to administer the designated program(s) on a practical day-to-day and strategic long-term basis. All aspects of the programs operation and success fall under the Director of Education purview, including oversight of academics, retention, faculty, technology, facilities, Student Advising, Learning Resource Center and student satisfaction.
Director Of Education Duties And Accountabilities
Work closely with the Department of Academic and Student Advising (DASS) and Campus Director to ensure that academic and Student Advising are aligned with institution-wide goals, strategic direction, priorities, policies, and regulatory bodies.
Continually enhance academic curricula by monitoring and reviewing the quality and consistency of education for students within the guidelines established by the DASS office.
Maintain the highest standard for learning, develop and communicate clear expectations, and provide consistent educational support to meet students needs and ensure success.
Actively lead and manage the Campus Academic and Student Advising employees, provide direction, evaluate success, and coach to improve performance.
Establish and maintain communications with the industry and the academic community to promote the SAE programs and services and to build strategic partnerships.
May teach course(s) as determined by Campus Director and fill in for other teachers as necessary.
Recruit, train, support, supervise, and evaluate Campus Academic and Student Advising employees.
Approve teaching assignments and class schedules.
Ensure effective implementation of all academic and Student Advising policies and procedures.
Support, monitor, evaluate, and refine the educational process to ensure optimal delivery of approved curricula and an excellent student experience.
Work with the SAE USA Librarian to identify needed resources, recommend additions to the schools holdings, and ensure academic integration with the Learning Resource Center.
Provide regular reports of academic metrics.
Participate in budget development and implementation.
Oversee inventory and distribution of supplies.
Remain current with technology, industry trends, and educational techniques.
Actively promote SAE on campus and in the community, taking part in open houses, graduation, and other events.
Manage the learning management system (Canvas), including setting up new courses.
Identify and implement strategies to improve student retention.
Recruit, hire and manage General Education faculty (degree-granting institutions only).
Other duties as assigned.

Keep accurate records, submit reports on time, and enforce college policies and procedures
Collaborate with Student Advising and Career Services to review student progress
Actively manage, and provide direction, evaluate success, and coach to improve Program Chair and faculty performance
Promote Student Engagement and Success
Key Performance Indicators Ensure 100% of instructors are qualified and credentialed to lead courses, following SAE policy
Class schedule is created on time for each term and kept within budget, with schedule distributed to students two weeks before term begins
Graduate student surveys indicate satisfaction with instructional methods, faculty and administration
Meet or come under fiscal year budgeted drop number
Achieve a minimum classroom attendance rate of 70% or higher
Hold formal faculty meetings no less than monthly
Professional development plan on file and updated annually for each faculty member, program chair and LRC staff
Ensure completion of the plan
Ensure at least 2 faculty observations are completed for each faculty member per year, following the forms and procedures outlined in the Faculty Handbook
Ensure faculty complete in-service training yearly
Conduct formal training for all new faculty prior to the term beginning
Achieve an average minimum course retention rate of 70% or higher
Achieve an average minimum course attendance rate of 70% or higher
Director Of Education Qualifications A Masters degree or higher is required
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required
Minimum of three years of experience as a teacher and/or academic administrator in higher education
At least two years of experience managing faculty
Proven leadership skills
Competencies Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to foster a cooperative atmosphere in a diverse community
Outstanding conflict resolution skills
Demonstrated time management and critical thinking skills
Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

Ability to work independently without constant supervision and to follow instructions
Knowledge of common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, MAC) with the ability to complete administrative functions (reports, etc.) in a timely and accurate manner
Desirable Skills Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system
Familiarity with the CampusNexus student information system
Advanced skills in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel
Additional Information This is a full time on-site (campus based) position. Position requires two weekday evenings until 7pm. Physical requirements include the ability to handle files and move items up to 25 pounds. Some movement within the facility is required.
