JOB DESCRIPTION As the Director of Ecommerce, you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive ecommerce strategy that drives growth, profitable customer acquisition, and LTV in a way that aligns with The Foggy Dog’s brand and mission. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of innovating and scaling DTC businesses, building high-performing teams, optimizing the ecommerce funnel and delivering quality customer experiences. S/he will ideally live near San Francisco, CA, where our office is located (we are currently hybrid and come into the office twice a week), though we will also evaluate qualified remote candidates. Key Responsibilities Acquisition Marketing Own and scale paid acquisition channels including Meta, Google, and direct mail in partnership with our media buyer. Optimize performance marketing efforts to improve aMER and contribution margin through rigorous testing and analysis. Identify and test new customer acquisition channels and campaign opportunities.
Retention & Lifecycle Marketing Lead our retention strategy to drive repurchase rate and maximize LTV. Manage segmentation, automation, and personalization across the entire customer journey. Own email, SMS and direct mail channels. Oversee lifecycle marketing programs, including onboarding, post-purchase, winback, and loyalty.
Website Optimization & CRO Own website KPIs including conversion rate, AOV, and overall user experience. Partner with design, UX, and engineering teams to run ongoing A/B tests and site experiments. Use data and heatmaps to identify friction points and drive continuous CRO improvements.
Customer Analytics & Insights Own marketing and customer analytics to deepen understanding of customer behavior, preferences, and journey touchpoints. Lead cohort, attribution, and LTV analysis to inform acquisition, retention, and product decisions. Drive a culture of experimentation and insight-led decision making.
Customer Service & Experience Oversee the customer service function as a core part of the customer journey. Manage platforms, processes, and support teams to deliver fast, empathetic service. Use customer feedback and inquiry data to inform site, product, and policy improvements. Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing team across growth, retention, and Cx. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reviews in collaboration with Planning and Finance. Translate business objectives into marketing strategies with measurable outcomes. Serve as a key strategic partner to executive leadership across marketing, product, and customer experience.
ABOUT YOU 8-10+ years of experience in ecommerce, marketing, product management, ideally in a small-to-medium-sized DTC brand Shopify Plus experience is strongly preferred, as is Google Analytics experience A thinker and a doer. You have a talent for conceptualizing new ideas and big-picture strategies, but also love putting them in motion. You feel equally comfortable building a marketing plan and analyzing a spreadsheet Experience developing and managing a team. A strong team leader who values collaboration, communication, mentorship and transparency. Data-driven and analytical. You always try to inform decisions with data. When data is not available, you’re comfortable defining and driving the necessary data collection and analysis. Customer-obsessed: You care deeply about building the best possible experience for our customers, and leverage data, testing and market research to do so A born problem solver. You thrive when faced with tough challenges that need creative solutions. You are never satisfied with the status quo and constantly want to improve Positive and can-do with a willingness to roll up your sleeves & take on any task that’s needed. We aim to pay competitively for our company size and industry. The base salary for this position is $150,000+ per year and we will consider location, skill level and experience to determine the final offer.
