The Opportunity
We are seeking a bold, strategic, and creative marketing leader to serve as our Director of Earned Media, Influencer & Digital Guerrilla Marketing . This role will drive awareness, cultural relevance, and community growth by leveraging influencer partnerships, social buzz, viral campaigns, and unconventional digital strategies that capture attention without relying on traditional paid media.
The Director of Earned Media, Influencer, and Guerrilla Marketing will be a key leader in our marketing department, responsible for developing and executing our digital strategy to drive brand awareness, engagement, and growth. This role focuses on non-paid, organic, and unconventional digital marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will be a master storyteller, a relationship builder, and an analytical thinker who can leverage data to create impactful and measurable digital campaigns.
This is a digital-first role, and while the position is based in our Philadelphia headquarters, it does not involve planning or executing on-site brand activations or events.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Leadership:
Develop and implement a comprehensive digital-first earned media, influencer, and guerrilla marketing strategy that aligns with overall business objectives.
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of marketing professionals, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and high performance.
Oversee the entire lifecycle of digital campaigns, from ideation and planning to execution, measurement, and optimization.
Manage and allocate the earned media and influencer marketing budget to maximize ROI and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
Earned Media & PR:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and digital publications.
Proactively identify and secure opportunities for brand mentions, features, and thought leadership in relevant online spaces.
Develop and distribute compelling digital press kits, media releases, and other earned media assets.
Monitor brand mentions, news cycles, and industry trends to identify opportunities for rapid response and to insert our brand into relevant conversations.
Influencer Marketing:
Lead the strategy for our influencer marketing program, identifying and building relationships with a diverse network of influencers, content creators, and brand ambassadors.
Negotiate and manage influencer partnerships, ensuring clear communication, compliance, and impactful content creation.
Develop creative briefs and guidelines to ensure influencer content is on-brand and aligns with campaign goals.
Continuously research and vet emerging platforms and creators to keep our influencer strategy fresh and ahead of the curve.
Digital Guerrilla Marketing:
Develop and execute unconventional, high-impact digital campaigns that generate buzz and virality without a significant paid ad spend.
Identify and capitalize on digital trends, cultural moments, and online communities to create unexpected and memorable marketing moments.
Encourage user-generated content (UGC) and organic social sharing through creative digital prompts and campaigns.
Analytics & Reporting:
Define and track key metrics (e.g., reach, impressions, engagement rate, share of voice, website traffic, conversions) to measure the success of all earned media and influencer initiatives.
Use social listening tools, web analytics, and other platforms to gather insights and optimize strategies.
Provide regular, data-driven reports and insights to senior leadership on campaign performance and strategic recommendations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
8 years of experience in a digital marketing leadership role, with a strong focus on earned media, influencer, and/or social media marketing.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful digital campaigns that have driven significant brand growth.
Deep expertise in the evolving digital and social media landscape, including a strong understanding of current platforms, algorithms, and emerging trends.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for storytelling and relationship building.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
Experience with influencer marketing platforms, social listening tools, and web analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Brandwatch, etc.).
A creative, entrepreneurial, and resourceful mindset.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and ever-changing environment.
