Your Mission: The Director of Donor Communications and Data Management plays a key role in advancing Sun Health Foundation's philanthropic mission through strategic storytelling, donor communications, and effective data utilization. This position leads the development and execution of integrated communication strategies while overseeing the management and analysis of development data to inform fundraising efforts. The Director ensures all messaging supports donor engagement goals and that data is leveraged to measure impact, drive decisions, and support stewardship, acquisition, and retention strategies. In collaboration with Foundation leadership and the Marketing team, this role ensures donor communications, data infrastructure, and brand alignment contribute to a strong culture of philanthropy and measurable fundraising success..

Key Responsibilities :
Ensure data integrity and consistent usage across all users and departments:
Manage the relationship with Raiser's Edge and coordinate all training
Design and optimize donor segmentation strategies using CRM and data analytics to support targeted appeals and personalized communications.
Work with the CRM lead to improve tracking of donor interactions, response rates, and engagement metrics.
Develop and implement comprehensive donor communications strategies that foster engagement and long-term giving:
Develop content and oversee the creation of donor-facing materials such as appeals, case statements, impact reports, donor spotlights, and stewardship pieces.
Serve as editorial lead for Foundation publications, including newsletters and the annual impact report.
Collaborate with Marketing to amplify donor messages across digital, print, social, and earned media, ensuring brand consistency.
Lead the development of news releases to highlight key philanthropic initiatives, major gifts, campaigns, and impact stories, in coordination with the Marketing team.
Create and execute campaign communications, including timelines, messaging hierarchy, and segmentation plans.
Partner across departments including two hospital partners, Banner Sun Health Research Institute and Sun Health Wellness programs to identify impact stories and highlight the value of philanthropy
Lead internal communications promoting employee giving and a culture of philanthropy.
Provide analysis on effectiveness of strategies and best return on investments of time and money
Develop tailored communication materials for development officers, including presentations, briefings, and stewardship collateral.
Partner with the Director of Annual Giving & Operations to oversee campaign performance reporting, donor engagement analytics, and communication effectiveness.
Align communication strategies with broader fundraising initiatives including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaigns.
Oversee relationships with third party vendors such as Stelter and Pixa. Assess the outcomes of their efforts and recommend changes as needed.
Other Responsibilities:
Actively promotes and protects the brand to ensure staff and the public are aware of the organization's mission, vision, and current/upcoming fundraising initiatives.
Support executive communications, including speeches, board presentations, and philanthropic updates.
Stay current on industry trends in donor communications, fundraising analytics, and nonprofit media outreach.
Adhere to Sun Health's mission, vision, values, and all applicable organizational policies.
Manage two direct reports: the Donor Relations & Annual Giving Coordinator, and Development Coordinator.
Demonstrate the Sun Health Mission and Values.
Your Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field, or at least five years in a similar nonprofit role.
Preferred: Master's degree. Experience in fundraising for research, medical education, or Centers of Excellence. Familiarity with healthcare and hospital operations.
Minimum of five years' experience in healthcare public relations or donor communications role.
At least three years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of healthcare, senior living, wellness, and mass communication trends.
Demonstrated experience writing and distributing news releases and media content.
Experience in graphic design production and developing high-impact communication materials.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Raiser's Edge or a fundraising CRM platform experience required.
Proven experience writing speeches and content for large-scale campaigns or publications.
Ability to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and auto insurance required.
