STATUS: Full-time, Exempt
RANGE: $105,000 - $115,000

Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The Law School is searching for an Director of Digital Communications to join our Marketing and Communications team. The Director of Digital Communications is responsible for advancing Brooklyn Law School’s digital presence, with a primary focus on the website and digital asset production. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communication, this position manages the website’s functionality and performance while supervising a Multimedia Producer and a Graphic Designer to ensure high-quality, consistent digital assets that align with institutional goals and brand standards. The Director provides both strategic direction and hands-on guidance, serving as the School’s lead on web and digital design initiatives while fostering a collaborative, high-performing creative team.

Responsibilities include:

Digital Strategy and Web Management

  • Manage and maintain the Law School’s website, ensuring content is accurate, timely, accessible, and user-friendly.
  • Implement SEO best practices and use analytics tools to monitor site performance, report on key metrics, and inform future strategies.
  • Ensure all web content adheres to brand identity standards and accessibility requirements.
  • Manage digital projects from conception to execution, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external vendors as needed.

Team Leadership and Creative Direction

  • Supervise, train, and mentor a Multimedia Producer and a Graphic Designer.
  • Provide creative direction and feedback on videos, animations, graphics, and other digital assets.
  • Establish efficient workflows to ensure deadlines and project goals are met.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to develop digital assets that support marketing, events, advancement, admissions, and institutional priorities.

Digital Asset Production and Support

  • Guide the Multimedia Producer on video shoots, audio recording, editing, and other visual storytelling projects.
  • Oversee the Graphic Designer’s work to produce engaging visuals for the website, email, advertising, and digital signage.
  • Review and approve digital assets to ensure quality, accuracy, and brand consistency.
  • Support the planning and execution of digital campaigns with multimedia and design elements that strengthen audience engagement.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media, or related field.
  • Four to six years of progressively responsible experience in digital communications, including at least two to three years in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Proven experience managing websites using a content management system (CMS), preferably in higher education or nonprofit settings.
  • Strong understanding of digital asset production, accessibility standards, SEO, and analytics.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and mentoring creative staff.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in an academic, nonprofit, or mission-driven setting.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro).
  • Knowledge of video production and editing techniques.
  • Advanced understanding of SEO research, Google Analytics, and related tools.

Remote Capabilities:

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule, requiring a minimum in-office presence of four (4) days per week during the academic year when classes are in session and during exam periods. During the summer and academic breaks, when classes are not in session and exams are not being administered, a minimum of three (3) days per week of in-office presence is required.

Travel:

  • No travel required.
