Position Summary:
The Director of Deposit Operations oversees all deposit operational activities within Resource One Credit Union's payment processing ecosystem. This position manages back-office daily operating functions including ACH transactions, wire transfers, mobile deposit processing, check and deposit returns IRA administration, Zelle adjustments, electronic funds transfers, and Regulation E electronic transactions. The Director implements emerging technologies including artificial intelligence solutions in alignment with evolving regulatory frameworks, ensuring compliance through required policies, procedures, and regulatory standards across all payment processing operations.
Position Responsibilities
Operational Management & Oversight
Direct all payment processing operations including ACH transactions, wire transfers, mobile deposit processing, check and deposit returns IRA administration, Zelle adjustments, electronic funds transfers, and Regulation E electronic transactions, ensuring operations meet service level agreements, accuracy standards, and regulatory compliance requirements
Monitor and analyze operational metrics, identifying areas for process improvement and efficiency gains
Coordinate and prepare for Operations-related regulatory examinations and ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations
Ensure compliance with Reg E and provide Reg E member communications
Oversee the processing and maintenance of e-funds, share drafts, ATM account transactions, and maintenance of account records.
Leadership & Innovation
Lead implementation of artificial intelligence solutions to enhance operational efficiency, improve transaction speed, reduce costs, and enhance member experience
Develop and execute long-term operational strategies that align with credit union objectives and emerging financial technology trends
Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for operational innovation and digital transformation
Establish partnerships with fintech vendors and technology providers to enhance payment processing capabilities
Team Leadership & Development
Provide leadership, mentorship, and development for Operations management team and staff
Lead hiring, training, and performance management of departmental personnel
Foster continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the Operations department
Establish performance goals and accountability measures for supervised positions
Facilitate cross-training to ensure operational continuity and staff development
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
Maintain knowledge of NACHA guidelines, Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC regulations, and payment processing regulations
Oversee Regulation E compliance including error resolution, dispute processing, and consumer protection requirements
Ensure adherence to emerging stablecoin and digital payment regulations
Develop risk assessment frameworks for new payment technologies and processes
Review Internal Audit feedback and implement corrective actions
Oversee BSA/AML compliance for wire transfers and ACH transactions, escalating suspicious activities
Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business management, Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, or related field required, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of progressive leadership experience in financial institution operations
3+ years of management experience with direct responsibility for payment processing operations

Ability to translate technical concepts into business terms
Technical Expertise
Knowledge of payment processing operations including ACH, Wire, Payroll, IRA, and Regulation E transactions
Understanding of payment processing technologies and stablecoin regulations
Knowledge of NACHA guidelines, BSA/AML requirements, and financial services regulatory environment
Proficiency in core banking systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and operational management software
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Stationary work, often requiring standing or sitting for prolonged periods
Operate standard office equipment and keyboards
Visually recognize, reconcile, and verify numerical details for accuracy
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
Must be able to access and navigate facility with reasonable accommodations
Lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items
