Job Purpose and Impact The Director of Data Engineering will lead a dynamic data engineering team responsible for executing tactical and strategic plans focused on designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and solutions. This role ensures efficient data processing and availability for insightful analysis and reporting. Essential Functions Establish and maintain reliable data systems that support large and complex data products, ensuring accessibility for all partners. Lead the development of scalable, sustainable technical products and solutions utilizing big data and cloud-based technologies. Oversee and guide the design and development of data pipelines that facilitate data movement from various sources to internal databases. Construct and optimize data infrastructure, ensuring data is in appropriate formats for analysis readiness. Evaluate and determine optimal data formats to enhance usability and accessibility across the organization. Work closely with partners to understand data needs, aligning them with organizational objectives. Champion development standards and test new data framework concepts and architecture patterns to promote efficient data processing and analysis. Lead the creation and maintenance of automated reporting systems that provide timely insights, supporting data-driven decision-making. Supervise data modeling processes to prepare databases for various analytics tools, improving data asset quality. Manage team members toward achieving organizational goals by fostering productivity, setting performance expectations, promoting feedback, and providing coaching to support employee development. Minimum and Typical Years of Work Experience Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience; typically reflects 10 years or more. Preferred Work Experience Experience as a data/software engineer focusing on data modeling and pipeline engineering with advanced cloud technologies and diverse coding languages. Leadership experience with geographically distributed teams in a large global organization. History of developing and managing strategic partnerships with digital and business stakeholders. Proven track record in leading architecture strategies across a diverse digital and data technology landscape. Experience in leading transformation strategies across people, processes, and technology. In-depth understanding of current industry trends and best practices for robust, performant, and cost-effective data engineering solutions.
