Cameron House is a 150 year old institution that is deeply woven into San Francisco history and rooted in faith-based outreach and support. We proudly hold the honor of serving the evolving needs of the San Francisco Chinese community. Cameron House is a hub of year-round programs and services. These programs include our heritage youth school, adult ESL and computer classes, counseling services in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, domestic violence intervention, and case management for accessing all of the San Francisco area community resources available for low to moderate income individuals and families. We empower community members to build strength and resilience through family-centered programs, and help people learn, heal, and thrive.
Job Summary
Reports to the Chief Program Officer and works as a member for the Programs department. Responsibilities include: Directing the work of the Counseling Team; regularly evaluating the program’s effectiveness; managing the finances and budget of the program; engaging in community outreach and education; and delivering counseling services to clients.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Chief Program Officer, Social Services Director, and Director of Youth Programs to set programmatic goals and objectives that align with the organization’s mission, vision and annual goals.
Oversee and direct the programmatic and operational work of the Counseling Services Team
Conduct regular programmatic evaluations, rooted in metrics, to ensure participants and funder’s needs are being met
Oversee, develop and manage counseling budgets and approve reimbursements/disbursements for expenses
Conduct outreach and community education
Provide counseling services to individuals, couples, and families with emotional conflicts, challenges, and difficulties especially survivors of domestic violence (children and adults)
Attend staff/community/committee meetings and assist with other Cameron House programs/events, as needed
Core Competencies
Strong Communication Skills Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Cantonese is a MUST! - Mandarin is a plus
Good English writing and verbal skills, able to communicate information and ideas clearly so others understand you.
Excellent Interpersonal Skills Possesses strong leadership qualities that include the abilities to collaborate and guide others to successful outcomes
Able to handle confidential and/or sensitive information with discretion
Strong observational and listening skills, able to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
Enjoys working with and supporting clients mental well-being, helping them find resources, learn, develop and improve upon their their lives
Ability to represent agency and collaborate with various non-profit or government staff
Computer Knowledge Knows how to work on a computer, and learn new computer programs quickly
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
Able to Reason & Think Critically Capable of solving problems with sound judgment and practical approaches - solution-oriented
Requirements
Required: Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
Required: A minimum of 2 years of management and supervisory experience
Required: Experience working with low-income and limited English-speaking immigrant individuals and families, particularly women and/or children experiencing domestic violence
Required: Proficient in basic computer skills, such as Google Workplace and Microsoft 365
Preferred: Experience with Salesforce and Slack

Achieve satisfactory clearance from the Department of Justice via Live Scan
Undergo a screening for tuberculosis
Complete a Sexual Harassment Prevention training
Complete forty (40) hours of Domestic Violence Training

Compensation
As a financial steward of public funds, Cameron House is committed to pay equity and transparency. Cameron House offers competitive base salaries aligned with the market midpoint for not-for-profit organizations of similar size. To maintain this commitment, Cameron House does not negotiate salary offers; instead, each offer is carefully calculated using benchmarking data. This is an exempt (salary) role with a pay range of $69,996.00 - $85,514.00 a year
