CMCB seeks a Director of Community Operations (DCO) to oversee and streamline the operational processes of CMCB's Community Engagement Programs (CEP) division, including data tracking, financial oversight, resource management, and volunteer utilization. Reporting directly to the Chief Programming Officer and joining a team of two full-time staff and two part-time interns, this new key position is responsible for ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, infrastructure, and logistics for all division initiatives in order to ensure financial strength and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate has a business operations background, experience working in or with a large public school district, and a demonstrated ability to manage and track financial processes . They are a detail-oriented and analytical administrator who is comfortable translating findings from large quantities of data into actionable strategies for upper management . Lastly, the DCO is familiar with the language of business operations and has a strong financial acumen .

Status : Full-Time Salaried (40 hours/week), Exempt

Schedule: Hybrid, Monday - Friday, occasional evening and weekend hours with advance notice
Responsibilities
Act as the primary contact with our largest partner, Boston Public Schools, establishing strong relationships with external administration and working persistently to understand and navigate an established structure
Collect, maintain, and analyze division data to support strategic decision-making and potential corrective actions
Oversee all division financial processes, such as billing submission to partner accounts payable departments, expense tracking and reconciliation, revenue and expenses analysis and forecasting, etc.
Maintain department electronic databases , particularly CMCB's registration software ASAP, and utilizing technology to streamline operations and increase efficiency
Provide day-to-day leadership and management that mirrors the mission and core values of CMCB
Handle the creation, preparation, review, and editing of all division contracts
Track and evaluate key event metrics (e.g., attendance, partner feedback, cost-efficiency) while implementing an aligned strategy for utilizing volunteers at events
Qualifications
Essential
Minimum of 5-7 years of full-time professional experience in operations, project management, business administration, or related administrative roles, ideally within education, youth development, or nonprofit sectors with a minimum two of those years in a management role
Experience working in or with Boston Public Schools or a similar large public school district
A deeply held and unyielding belief in the overarching mission of public education
Ability to advise and negotiate comfortably with individuals at all levels
Demonstrated ability to manage and track financial processes, including budgeting, payroll oversight, and expense reconciliation
Strong analytical attitude with an ability to see the big picture while maintaining impeccable attention to detail and sustaining a keen sense of persistency
Skilled in data collection, analysis, and reporting with an ability to synthesize large quantities of data and translate findings into easy-to interpret and actionable strategies
Proven track record in managing logistics for multi-site programming and large-scale events
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines
Experience creating and implementing internal systems and workflows to improve operational efficiency
High level of comfort working with databases and CRM systems; familiarity with platforms such as ASAP, Salesforce, or similar
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and collaborate across departments
Ability to build effective, collegial, and cooperative working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, youth employees, school partners, and families
Adept at working in a culturally diverse environment with a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and Google Workspace
Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. as CMCB is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time
Preferred
Degree in business administration or related field
Experience supervising and mentoring youth employees or early-career professionals
Familiarity with arts education, youth development, or community-based programming
Oral / written proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, and/or Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is a plus
Physical Demands
The duties of this position are typically performed indoors in a business/office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate during active programming hours and minimal otherwise. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50-75% of the time. They will need to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery and have the cognitive ability and focus to manage multiple detailed tasks at once with frequent interruptions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The person in this position frequently communicates verbally with internal and external constituents and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
